THE DIABETES EDUCATION AND RESEARCH CENTER RECEIVES GRANT FOR $4,015.52 IN SUPPORT OF ITS DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM, PATIENT ADVOCATE ACTIVITIES, AND RELATED OPERATIONS.
Health Organizations: The Diabetes Education and Research Center has received a $4,101.98 grant from the Diabetes Education and Research Center Endowment Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation to support its diabetes education program, patient advocate activities, and related operations. Announcement of the grant was made by Pedro A. Ramos, President and CEO of the Foundation. Carolyn Duncan Stern, president of the Diabetes Education and Research Center, said the funds would be used for continued operation of its education and advocate activities and other general program support.
The Diabetes Education and Research Center is a non-profit organization serving the needs of people living in Philadelphia and surrounding communities. It was established to supplement the efforts of the Garfield G. Duncan Research Foundation. The goal of the Foundation was to improve the health of people with diabetes. It met that goal by partaking in clinical trial research and by establishing an on-site, accredited Diabetes Education Program. Today, the Diabetes Education and Research Center carries on the work of the Foundation by providing patients with contact information for companies, health professionals, and other individuals and organizations that deliver necessary products or services, and by providing resources and information through its online activities.
