Tips for Managing your Diabetes



Missed Medications (Oral)


If you forget to take your oral diabetes medication:

Within 3 hours:

If you are within 3 hours of the time of the dose you missed, and you normally take pills twice per day, go ahead and take your medication.

After 3 hours:

If more than 3 hours have passed, wait for your next scheduled dose.

Many diabetes medications have recently appeared on the market. It is best to contact your healthcare provider for instruction on when and how to compensate for missed medications beyond the 3 hour guideline.
