Hi to everyone!
Just wanted to stop in and see how you all are doing. Has any heard any reports
about your bs reading 2 hours after meals is more important then what your
fasting bs are? I have heard the resent reports show if your bs comes back to a
normal range within the two hours it can cut side effects of D in large numbers.
The doctors are now going to start putting more training out on this topic. The
ADA is lowering the a1c number which will be considered normal range. We were
talking about this at a D class. Any one else know of this? Take care, Love and

soon. Mike & I went out last nite for our 26th anniversary. Did the usual
dinner & movie. I highly recommend going to see K-Pax. A little different,
but very enjoyable movie. Lets' you forget the real world for a while. I
couldn't believe my b/s at bedtime...114! I had salad, tri-tip steak and 6
bar-b-q'd shrimp with some baked beans. I only had a bite of the white rice it
came with...mixed with a little salsa. No dessert & no popcorn at movie. Was
115 this a.m. too. I thought it should have been lower...but I guess that's
still good. I saw the Dr. Thurs. and on the 29th I get a cortisone shot in the
elbow. Youch!!! But it should reduce some of the swelling & pain. If
not...the alternative is surgery. Double Yikes!!! I hope the shot works. I
talked to my regular Dr. about the high b/s associated with the shot...since I'm
so sensitive to lows she doesn't really want me to take 2 Actos instead of 1 the
day of the shot...if it goes up I'm to act as if a sick day and just take it
easy and keep well hydrated. If it goes too high..I can call her. We'll see how
it goes. Well I've got to finish my chores so I'm not running like a crazed
turkey come Wed. Have a great weekend All. Connie

Morning: Jodi is packing the van for a quick trip to OKC. Beth, our middle
daughter has been rushed to the hospital with a staff and a strep infection that
has gone septic. This means that it is in the blood and has gone all through her
system. Beth has systemic mastocytosis which is the same terminal disease that
we lost our 6 year old grand son to 4 years ago. This is the same condition that
he was in when he went to the hospital for the last time. I am not saying that
this is Beth's final trip but we have been in the final stages of this disease
with her for some time now. Our youngest daughter Becky has the same disease.
Knowing that it is a genetic disease that originated with one of the parents
makes it especially difficult to deal with for Jodi and I. We don't have any
idea how long we will be in OKC. I will contact you when we return. Thanks!!

the procedure half way through due to his losing an excessive amount of blood.
John has had to cathertize (SP) himself 4 times a day for years. Whether or not
they will do the other half later depends on whether or not he is able to do the

I made this last
weekend from the "Healthy Kids" magazine. I served it bubbly hot with hot
cornbread. It looks pretty and I was thinking it would be a nice different side
dish for Thanksgiving. It was very good, but only in small portions, because as
it cools it *congeals*. ACORN SQUASH SOUP: Cut 2 acorn squash in half and scoop
out seeds and strings. Put face down on a backing pan, add 1/2 cut water, and
back 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Let cool. Scoop squash out of shell and blend
in blender with can of chicken broth until smooth. In a bowl, mix a tablespoon
of flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp ginger, 1/4 tsp nutmeg. In a pot
over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of margarine, stir in flour mixture to make
a paste. Add 1 cup evaporated skim milk, stir until smooth. Pour in the squash
mixture and continue to stir until hot and bubbly.

Still trying to get better, thanks for asking. Cardiac rehab will be a long
process. I finally "got my breath" back. I don't get winded talking or walking
across a room any more. Starting to feel really good, but tire so easily and
could sleep 27/7. I haven't been and won't be coming around here much for now.
Need to spend my time getting better, and don't want to read the nonsense.
