I listened to the story you "MENTAL MIGET".....and its not rare! So stick that in "YOUR CUD" and chew it! Experts say that what caused Long's injury is known as "superheating," which is one of the most potentially hazardous problems that can occur when heating water or other liquids in a microwave oven. The scientific definition of superheating is that water can go above boiling temperature without any bubbles forming. "It's hotter than it should be for normal boiling to occur, and yet it doesn't boil," say Louis Bloomfield, physics professor at the University of Virginia. In a process called nucleation, the energy that's already in the water, however, can be triggered by a granule - such as a tea bag, instant coffee or a utensil - which can then cause the water to erupt. "Anything that triggers the boiling once you've reached that temperature will cause catastrophic, very sudden flash boiling," explains Bloomfield. "And it can spray the water ... all over the room, the microwave or you." Preventing Microwave Hazards Despite this danger, Bloomfield says a microwave is "actually one of the safest devices in your kitchen when used correctly."

Jodi and I went to Tulsa yesterday to attend a back to school picnic held by the home schooling group our kids belong to. It was delightful. There were 80-90 families in attendance and we never once heard 2 kids get in a squabble or sass their parents or just basicly get loud and cause any kind of problems. I even played "Red Rover - Red Rover" with the kids. But the other side never called to have "Papa" (What my grand kids call me) sent over. The kids put on an outdoor play with home made backdrop and props. We then ate a "potluck" picnic meal. We have no idea how many of the people attending have diabetes or heart problems but were amazed at the amount of food labeled sugar free or low salt or salt free. It's a shame that our public schools refuse to consider some of the methods and techniques these people use in educating their kids. This evening Greg, Kevin and their families are coming in. Our dughter in law (Greg's wife) is the driving force in their determination to get this old house fixed up for us. When she found out that the boys and I plan to take a few hours Saturday and watch the OU - Air Force ball game she protested "Papa this is supposed to be a work weekend, after all it is LABOR day weekend". I am still not taking any insulin at bedtime and have not had any more early morning lows. Maybe we have it figured out this time. I probably won't post much this weekend. See all of you next week! If your doctor told you to eat sugar you would think he was crazy. So why are we eating carbs? Buy Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution and start controlling your diabetes. It worked for me! Tell as many people you can about this book. Also, only use glucose tablets for reactions since they contain very little carb. J

hey...did anyone watch "Primetime" last night? Remember when someone came on here and posted about liquid exploding in the mircowave and no one believed it. Well they did a story on it on Primetime last night. Its true....the liquid will explode at a high temp if after taking it out of the mircowave, you put a spoon in the liquid. They did a demo last night and WOW did it explode!! They showed a woman who received "terrible" burns to her face from this. I'm sure there is a website for primetime to read about this...So...be careful heating liquids in your mirocwave folks!

Sam & Faith -- I posted the link originally about the insulin pill. Purdue University is doing the research; they've found a way to coat the pill so it doesn't dissolve as fast, allowing the insulin time to be absorbed. I think they've done studies on animals successfully, but it may be awhile before they can test on humans.

Herb, maybe you are right. I do tend to let this sort of thing get to me. I'm trying to put it out of my mind till the 19th. SAM, the pill I mentioned doesn't break down till it reaches the lower digestive system. That's been the problem in the past with trying to take oral insulin, the stomach acids destroyed it before it could be absorbed into the system. It sounds like it may have some possibilites. I just don't know how I would feel w/o "Ralph", (my pump), he and I are so 'attached', don't you know! LOL

If someone trys to start trouble they will give them a warning and if they continue they are banned. I just thought I would pass this along if others here might be interested in this. It's free by the way. Just go to www.paltalk.com to download. Maybe I will see some of you there.

Thanks for all your help! FAITH: Have you considered that you might be stressing a little more than you thought about this growth you are going to have removed. Stress will run my BS up faster and higher than if I had been in the sugar bowl. What I have to watch if I know my high is stress induced is that since there is not that level of food in my system to maintain the high when it does decide to come down it will come crashing down all at once with no warning and go very low. Now that I have made your day let me wish that some of your rains come up this way. We have been hot and dry for weeks now. Herb (Bear)

Oh well, gotta have faith, no pun intended! LOL Woke up this morning with a 334 reading. Don't know why! But, now today I will have to test more than usual to stay on top of it. Don't want a repeat of last Nov., when I had that DKA. Of course, that was Ralph's, (my pump), fault. What do you guy's think about this new possible pill they are working on. Someone mentioned the other day here. As mush as I like my pump, I would love to only take pills for control. Sounds too good to be true though! We can only hope! I hope all of you are having a great day, and those here in Texas, keeping safe and dry. Boy, are we ever getting some good rain. And none too soon either!

Herb, you can also block that sender in your e-mail MESSAGE program. Just click on the bad e-mail to highlight it,then open the message box in the tool bar at the very top of your screen, click on block sender and you should not get any more messages from that person. This is the way it works in Outlook Express, I do not know what Netscape has, but probably something very similar. Good Luck

Well it's been 4 days since I took my prat fall. I am sorer today than I have been at any time since it happened. My right side is nearly all bruises from my knee to my shoulder. My left side is scrapes and strawberries, kind of like what we called floor burns when I was in school. All the OK kids with the exception of Beth and Becky are going to be here this weekend. It will be kind of interesting to see if my daughter in law will still be carrying on the law suit banter. It's so hot outside Jodi and I are not letting the boys do any outside work this weekend. Greg is going to modify the kitchen cabinets so Jodi's side by side frig will fit. She has had it sitting in the den ever since we moved in. Kevin will bed and tape the walls and ceiling in the den so we can paint in there. TO AUG 28 15:49, I do appreciate your info. It is not my desire to slander any one nor is it my desire to get into a computer war with any one. I am only interested in not having to worry about what my grandkids might find on this 'puter. Herb you need to put a firewall on your computer...I use norton Firewall which works with my Norton SystemWorks...if is easy to trace a message but you should never assume that the person that the e mail is traced to is really the one that sent it to you..is called ISP Spoofing, you should always clear your history and cache out every day...a firewall will protect you from what is called page-jacking....is why you sometimes cannot get rid of the porn by just deleting....so if you are going to post a persons name and address on here as being the person sending your porn you should understand that you may be wrong....I would look at it as slander...but is your choice to do that

Good morning everyone. I've had an enlightening if not pleasant 24 hours. A porn site has been springing up on my computer at assorted and strange times. This is naturally a concern of mine since I have grand children who use the computer when they come to visit like they are this coming weekend. My oldest son who is in the computer business has been working to find where this site is located in my computer and how it got there. When he found it, it was located under "webmaster" under "personal toolbar" in my bookmarks, not once but 3 times. It was placed there through what he calls a tag on an E-mail message. He has an old high school friend who is the epitome of the classical computer nerd/hacker. Randy is going to come and find the E-mail message and Greg says that once he has the message he can back track it to the computer where it originated. I keep my incoming E-mail file cleaned up pretty good. But, no more than I know about computers I was not aware that all the messages I deleted are still in the "trash bin" since I did not know it was there and have never emptied it. It will probably be time consuming but Greg says that Randy has the knowledge and the programs (written by Randy) to run this down. When we get the info my tendency is to do like Jim and turn it over to the authorities. Greg wants to do something a little more sinister. He wants to turn Randy loose on the source computer. He says that Randy can fix it where it will never run again. Since it is obvious that this person has access to my computer I am really not interested in getting involved in this kind of war. Oh well I guess we will just have to see how it works out. FAYE: sorry to hear that we are losing you, hurry back. Herb (Bear)

Newbies- Even after you get your diabetes under control, don't avoid testing because you think you can feel a low coming on. Many times you can but my friend made that mistake and nearly paid for it when he was passing out at the wheel. Have a good day everyone. Jim
