use C.M. because I am frankly bored with all the Charles Manson jokes. I have

contribute. While I was conversing with Steve the other day it appeared as
though I was being confused with other posts so I started using C.M. As for
saying I am someone else, you obviously have a thing for doing that. I can deal
with it, I just chalk it up to a very lonely man needing something to do. So if
it makes you happy for me to be someone else, feel free. I will try to
contribute here when I feel it is warranted and you can continue being the child
you intend to be. I don't care John. I have more important things to do then try
and entertain you.

I know I will look at numbers and to me they look like some weird scientific
algebra stuff. We have all been there. Faith, I really don't care about any
religion. I think you are a good person from what I have read here. If someone
said something offensive to religion or to Christians specifically and it was
meant as a joke, is it any less offensive? I know your point was that someone
brought it again for the millionth time but it's no less offensive. I certainly
don't want to argue, this place has seen it's share too often, but there seems
to be 2 sides to everything here and it's important we show some class in our
presentations of our views as to still respect the opposing side. Lectures
aren't my thing so I will step down off the podium and go do something
constructive for a while.

longer it will take to get back to normal. Life's little mysteries. Faith, I

calories is the way to go. If the first way is the way that works, then we who
have diabetes cannot shape up. Sure, we can lose muscle and water, but not fat
just by restricting calories. I say this advisedly, but newbies should beware of

me taking an oral med. along with the pump. Forgot which drug he was talking

decide on it. His theory is the insulin needs to be cut back, since it helps put
the weight on. The oral med would help me to be able to cut back on both my
basal and bolus rates. Makes sense to me! Hope he carries through with this. I

board belongs to everyone and we should feel free to discuss whatever topics we
like. For me, my personal faith/relationship with God are foundational in
helping me manage diabetes. Plus the fact that I am feeling pretty good about
myself these days. In the past 2 weeks I've lost (and hope not to find again!) 9
lbs. and my readings are finally trending DOWN for a change. After all this
time, maybe I am doing something right for a change. Have a terrific day!

Hope(and pray) that she'll be ok. Yeah,it does affect my diabetes. Trying to be

down on the production of insulin while we are sleeping and the body sends a
signal early in the morning to increase the supply because we are about to wake
up. It would apparently only apply to type 2's whose bodies are still producing
insulin but would not apply to a type 1 whose body produced no insulin. Hope
this helps. I am still trying to figure out how this could produce my early
morning lows? Herb (Bear)

C'mon now do you
guys have to even criticize my wife? I know it will do no good but I will tell
you what happened and let you make up your own minds. I got a splinter in my big
toe in this old house. You couldn't see it or where it went in. My toe was
beginning to hurt. Jodi looked at it with a flashlight several times each day
and couldn't see any thing. Then we got up one morning and the toe was black so
we went immediately to see the doctor. While in the doctors office I collapsed.
I don't even remember the ambulance ride to the hospital. Now it had just been a
couple of days since Jodi had graduated from nursing school and she lacked the
confidence to accost the doctors about my treatment. But she knew something was
wrong. There had been no mention of heart disease, kidney failure, either of the
two neurothapys, the arterial blockage, or the sleep apnea. They were giving me
antibiotic IVs and pumping me full of liquids. In 2 days I was in ICU going into
a coma. By this time Jodi had called Kris our daughter who is a cardiac special
care ICU nurse in Albuquerque. When she arrived she looked at all my tests and
records and came to ICU and managed to communicate with me that if I stayed
where I was I was not going to survive. The family had me on a helicopter to
Baptist Hospital in OKC within 2 hours. It was after arriving there that the
family was informed of all my other problems and the kidney specialist told the
family that he did not think I would make it through the night. He proceeded to
remove 13 liters of liquid from my system. I ended up with the kidney
specialist, 2 cardiologists, a surgeon, and a great endocrinologist. I spent 2
1/2 months in the hospital and was required by the doctors to live in the shadow
of the hospital for 18 months after I was released. I had to return to the
hospital for 2 short stays as a result of ETAs. (small strokes) 4 times while in
the hospital the doctors gathered the family aroung my bed and told them to say
goodbye to me. Now you tell me, did the local doctors and hospital here try and
kill me or not? Jodi lacked the confidence to criticize those who had trained
her. This is the major reason that she has not worked a day as a nurse. She
questions the competency of her training and also the only place she could work
would be in our local medical community. I hope you understand now. If not I
don't guess that you ever will have any understanding or compassion for other
people. Herb (Bear)

has lost his big toe but it won't heal and now they are going to take his foot.
We are going to see him in a little while. This will be especially hard for
Jodi. She took her nurses training in this hospital and then watched as they
tried to kill me. She has some very strong negative feelings about our local
medical community and is afraid that she might say some thing that would be
inapropriate. This is why we go to OKC for all our medical needs. Be praying
that we might say and do the right things while there with Bill Tillman. Herb

All stem cell research is not done
with embryos. We have been doing stem cell transplants in my dept where I work
for the past 2 years, and it seems to be as safe and effective as bone marrow
transplant. The cells are harvested from either matching parents/siblings or
less frequently from cord blood (newborn baby umbilical cords can be donated and
are valuable sources of stem cells from what usually is thrown away). The stem
cell transplants are miracles, saving children with cancer and even the previous
certain young adult death of sickle cell disease. We do not use embryos and I
wanted to clarify that MOST stem cell research is with donated blood. The embryo
research is a tiny percent of the whole picture of stem cell research. Please
don't dismiss SCR entirely just because the news is focusing on one questionable
aspect of it.
