pressing an ice cold rag on my mouth, by 6:00pm, I was feeling a lot better. Got

he needs to talk to the doctor about it. U have never been able to eat the same
each day since schedule and activity vary so much. I have had to adjust my
sliding scale depending on glucose level. At any rate, the doctor NEEDS to

Most physicians have VERY little nutritional training. Some do opt for further
training, which is fine, I am not thrashing the medical community!!!!!!!! Same
old, same old. Again, most physicians do NOT have extensive training in
nutrition. Alpha betic, I have been told, is a good product, Not very potent. My
concern is with absorbtion. Ideally, vitamins, minerals and enzymes should be
gotten from RAW veggies or those lightly steamed. Heat destroys enzymes, which
help digestion. I use Men's Blend because my nutritional needs are higher than
most, expecially in the area of antioxidants. I used to take 4 Centrums/day.
Jim, if your endo is knowledgable in nutrition, great! By all means he should be
heard. But when will THIS end? Will someone have the integrity to check the
label? AAAARRRCCCCCHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

make a blood donation, you
must: be between the ages of 17-70 (save for first-time donors who must be under
60) be in general good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds (49.8kg.) have
eaten within four hours prior to donating not have an iron deficiency (will test
at clinic) bring one piece of photo I.D. or signature identification. You cannot
donate blood if you have any of the following: diabetes on insulin hepatitis or
high risk of AIDS exposure most cancers blood diseases or blood pressure
problems heart problems. Timing is also of great importance. Here are suggested
waiting times following an activity or ailment. Pregnancy - six months after
delivery Dental visit - 72 hours If you have been in a country where malaria is
a risk - six months after return If you have had ear or body piercing - 12
months If suffering from a cold, flu or sore throat - when recovered. Refusing a
blood donation from someone who has diabetes and is on insulin is for the
donor's benefit. Such a donation could interrupt your balance or glucose
control. In addition, there would be concern about having to treat a low blood
sugar reaction, something which could occur on site or, more problematically, on
the way home. Those who control their diabetes through diet, exercise or oral
diabetes pills are able to donate under most circumstances. On the day you
donate, you will be asked if you have kept to your regular diet and exercise
pattern. As noted previously, blood pressure and heart problems are restrictions
on donating. Many people who have type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent) have
such problems, and would therefore be kept from donating. If you have no risk
factors to prevent you from donating, I recommend having something to eat and
drink prior to making the donation. Snacks are often provided on site, either
before donating, or after. It is also wise to check on your blood glucose
levels, note any changes, and act accordingly.

Type One's never make any insulin after the "honeymoon" phase, when the rest of

this morning at breakfast I had none of these symptoms and my BS measured 42, go

get hyperactive when they get to much sugar????? Vitamins, if enough people
respond to your question you will find 2 basic theories on vitamins. Most
doctors will tell you to take any good all purpose vitamin. The health food
afficianados will tell you that these do absolutely nothing for you, that their
contents are all exited from your body in your urine. I really don't know. If I

go out to him. It's really nice to see Jim, Faith, Misty, Marc and the rest of
the regulars names still on here. I've wondered how you all are doing and how
the summer is treating you. I do have a question? Is there a multi vitamin that
is best for diabetics? Over the counter please. (I'm one of the poor diabetics.
LOL) I miss taking them and want to start again. And, this may be a real dumb
question, but, so many people have told me that they always get some kinda of
sign when their BS is getting too low. I have had tests of 52BS and don't feel
any different. I get dizzy when it gets up around 200. Am I just missing
something? I hope everyone has a lovely summer! I'm so glad to find actual
supportive posts here again. Friends, Toad

I went for my test
today and Herb and Jim were right. To check out my circulation they put gel on
different parts of legs and feet and a picture showed up on the screen of how
much bllod flow there was. Then they put blood pressure cuffs on my entire legs
and pumped them up very evry tight. Next they put litt;e probes on each toe. No
pain involved! Now wait and see what the doctor has to say........Faith, I sure
hope you feel better soon, keep sipping warm tea, that some times helps.
.....Herb, please give my regards to Gordon. Take care all, Love & Luck,
Misty

Herb - you have nothing to be
sorry for! This is what this site is for. To express what drives you crazy, and
if all the things you have wrong because of "D" isn't enough to drive one crazy,
I don't know what is. The one(s)who are giving you a hard time are not worth the
worry. You continue to vent when ever you want. We all have our problems because
of this disease, and we all have blessings to count, if we bother to. I wish I
could be there tomorrow for Gordo too. But thank you for stepping in for those
of us who care for him. Please give him my best. He is in my prayers. I hope the
pressure of all this is not causing havoc with his "D". Again Herb, thanks for
keeping us all informed about Gordo and his pain. I haven't been on sooner today
because I've been sick. I'm not on my pity pot either. Just stating a fact.
There is something wrong with my throat. Just staying in bed as much as I can.
Hope to be back to work tomorrow.

I am
extremely sorry that I seem to be at the center of all of this controversy,
especially right now. I apologize to anyone who thinks that I seek pity. I have
much to be extremely thankful for at this time. Ninety % of my drugs are paid
for by insurance. The same insurance that is buying a $10,000 electric wheel
chair for me at 90%. I couldn't afford the drugs 10% ($450 a month) if it were
not for the excellent retirement I have through the Southern Baptist Convention.
With my convention retirement plus Jodi's and my social security we make
slightly more than my salary when I worked full time. We have 5 great kids who
love us and show that love all the time. We have a beautiful, big, old house
that the boys are working their heads off trying to get fixed up for us. We have
a church and a church family that we love and loves us. And most of all I have a
wife who loves me despite all my faults and for whom I feel a love that cannot
be described in words. You see I have much to feel fortunate for and do not wish
pity even when I vent regarding a negative happening in my life. But right now I
can not get Marc's words out of my mind. What if Gordo came here for support and
found us fighting and squabbling like we are and especially what we are
squabbling over?????? Herb (Bear)

To the poster at 8:38 and 9:16
today -- take some time to consider the following quote: "You can easily judge
the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him."
Someone shared that with me after I blew my top at another person. It made me
stop and think about my life, my reactions and how I treat others -- especially
fellow diabetics.

First, my thoughts
and prayers to Gordon. We are here for you if and when you need us. Maybe we can
not go to the service on Wednesday but we all could spend a moment of silence at
11am (est). I know I will. This is a part of life, and thats when we need our
friends and love ones to be by our side. No one can take the pain away for
Gordon, we want to celebrate the fact that his wife enriched many lives when she
was here and will be remembered in great ways. I hope we all take time every day
and show the love to our families when we can. I hope everyone has a good day,
Love & Luck, Misty

Thank you
for pointing out my poor posting. If you examine my postings you will note that
I often leave out words and some times complete phrases. As slow as my mind
works my fingers are even slower and my mind compensates for it by just having
my fingers leave something out so they can catch up. I'm sorry. Herb (Bear)
