Well I had another low at 5:00 AM this morning. I woke up sweating like a
hog in the sunshine. I was so weak that Jodi had to help pull me up to a sitting
position on the side of the bed. she had to hold the glass of orange juice for
me to drink. My BS was 139 at bedtime and I took my normal 10 units of insulin.
This is 3 out of the last 4 days. She was in such a hurry to get my sugar up
that we didn't take a reading which we know is a mistake. It was 174 at
breakfast. Obviously we over did the correction some. The only thing that we can
come up with as a cause is that this past week I have been more active than
normal with all of our company and activities. We went through a spell like this
right after we moved back to McAlester and decided that it was because I was
trying to help Jodi unpack and doing more physical things than I had been. Maybe
this is a repeat. How do you judge physical acivity against diet and

to me. I am going to wear the new glucose monitor that Mini Med gives to doctors
in July. I have been the leader of pump development in the Pocono's the past few
years and our hospital is buying a monitor, so they chose me to wear for a few
days and make sure I golf and play tennis and everything else so they see how my
body reacts during the day. Thank you all for your thoughts during this rough
week for me. My best friend turned 19 last Mon and after a few days she had no
hip movement left I knew as she also knew it was time to go! Wed night during
the "great" Sixer's game she struggled to my lap and licked my face and I knew
that was her thanking me for a good life. I put her down the next day. She will
be burried with me someday and the ashes will rest on the fireplace until then.
If you don't think stress has anything to do with diabetes put your dog down and
watch the sugars! I was in the 4-500's Wed thru Fri. I'm sorry for this long
post but finally. Watch the Sixer's, the heart this team has is second to none.
That is why I think there may be a parade down Broad Street soon and I WILL BE

Jerry and Pearlyne are still here. They just went out to their trailer. We
played 2 games of Mexican Train after supper. The men won one and the Women won
one. We are all going to church together in the morning. Our Pastor sure loves
them. He got to know them when we worked for Jerry at the boy's camp. My blood
sugars have been great all day today. For it to have crashed as fast as it did
and go as low as it did after being 265 Thursday night some of the high may have
been caused by the excitement of having old friends here in our house for the
first time since we began fixing it up. We sure got great news twice today. The
insurance company that originally would not provide any home nursing care for
Beth is now furnishing 2 nurses a day plus a girl to clean house 2 hrs. a day 3
days a week. One of the medical nurses arrived a little early and caught Beth
washing dishes. Beth explained to her that Rick and her sister both work full
time jobs and just can't keep up with everything. The nurse called Dr. Minor and
tattled on Beth. He called Beth and told her that she was not to get out of bed
for anything without his permission, and that she would have help with the house
immediately. I like this guy. He takes charge and gets things done. Jodi and I
had applied through our insurance for a Hoveround electric wheelchair. If we go
some where and come home tired it is all we can do for both of us to get me up
the ramp in front of the house. When we go to doctors in OKC we have to park in
a parking garage, go down in an elevator, throught these underground tunnels and
then up in the building that the doctors are in. Then we have to do it in
reverse after the appointment. I can only run the chair for short distances due
to my heart and Jodi is 63 years old and is beginning to have problems with
arthritis and can only help me with it so much. We chose Hoveround since it is
the only one that delivers the chair to you wherever you live and come there to
service it. I could not see Jodi having to load a dead chair and haul it to a
service center in OKC or Tulsa. We did not know how the insurance company would
react since the Hoveround is the most expensive of chairs, $8,600. We heard
today that they had approved it. Ain't life great!!!! Herb (Bear) and Jodi

ex boss and his wife are still on our drive way in their travel trailer. We had
4 other couples plus Jodi and I for the domino tournament Thursday afternoon and
evening. Jerry, Perlyne, Jodi and I spent the day yesterday driving around
through the mountains southeast of here. See there I am an Okie despite my being
born in New Mexico and being raised in Colorado I called them mountains instead
of hills. I do miss my beloved Rockies though. Every time we go see our kids in
Albuquerque I have to get a mountain high fix. Today is just going to be a lazy
do nothing day so I can be rested up for tomorrow. My bedtime blood sugars have
been a little high the last 2 nights at bedtime. Thursday evening every body
brought covered dishes and I sampled to much and last night we ate out on the
way home way to late. Strange thing happened Thursday night, my blood sugar was
265 at bedtime. I took my normal 10 units of insulin and had a low. Woke up at
6:00 AM with a 34. Go figure??? Better close now. Jodi and I love all of you and
