least the rehab specialist stated there is no work he can do. I don't imagine
they are going to be able to take back the testimony and push another hearing! I
bet that would take another two years! At least we got a new judge - but then he
is an unknown. The "old" judges had the rubberstamp guy who approved everyone
and the negative nut who disapproved everyone. And this is our tax dollars at
work!

There is only one office in all of Wisconsin authorized to set up the
hearings. Everyone is routinely turned down in this state on the application and
has to ask for a hearing. We have heard it over and over and over - takes two
years. And well here we are. The Milwaukee office is not only the only one, they
have been understaffed and now they have new people working to hope to catch
up.One excuse is this is a farm state and they have so many applications! as
opposed to industrial states? Thanks for the encouragement!!! One big problem is
no doubt his age - 29 - but he has been diabetic more than 20 years. We just
hope he gets the approval and sees something at the other end of the tunnel
besides another train! They actually have been known to award Disability
posthumously here!

the exam! A type 1 does! Keep Pete's records close...all of them. He should make
it. That's only the beginning. tho. ALSO..nobody in the system remembers
nothin'...ever. Mine was approved immed! But I was 50+. I am on Novolog. Pump,

It took 29 months from
the application date, a lawyer and a U.S. Congressman to finally get Pete a
hearing. The judge indicated he plans to approve the Disability but required a
few more papers due within 30 days of the hearing. Everything was filed. Next
Social Security leaves a phone message on voicemail for the lawyer saying they
never got the paperwork and should they just close out the claim? It was sent
Express Mail, it was signed for with the date and time received! Well the nice
young woman who signed for the papers just can't really remember what she might
have done with them. Everyone here involved in the process says that it takes at
least two years to get a Disability claim approved especially for Diabetes. We
have one family member who still says, "But Pete doesn't look sick." So still
waiting and the Congressman's office says there is supposed to be a 68 day
deadline on their acting on the hearing. Somehow I think this isn't going to
happen in a timely fashion just the same. Meanwhile Lantus and Novalog aren't
doing any better than anything else he ever tried. Counting and writing out
every mouthfull of food has brought Ac1 down to normal for the first time ever.
But he needs help figuring what to eat and how much. And a good share of the
time can' figure out how much insulin either.
