Dear Fenvilaa: What foods? Generally speaking, unprocessed foods: Low fat meat, poultry, fish, milks and cheeses, plain yogurts (w/o sugar).Whole grain breads, cereals, brown rice, whole grain pastas. Virtually any raw veggie or fruit. In short, just about anything anyone else can eat. Just avoid those things processed w/added salt/sugar. Squats

diabetes can run in the family. Also it's when your pancreas can't make insulin on it's own anymore.

I just found out a week ago that I have Type II diabetes. My glucose was 270 and now it is 105 to 117. I am taking medicine and following the South Beach Diet. The best information I have found on diabetes that explains alot was in this book in the chapter "Is it diabetes yet". The chapter is only about 10 pages...I suggest when at Borders, take a couple of minutes and read this chapter while waiting around in the store.

I'm sorry, but high blood pressure is part of having diabetes. And so is foot problems, eye problems, nerve damage do I need to go on. Maybe that's the whole problem with this site, everyone wants to make stupid statements enstead of talking about the real world and problems of a diabetic. Are you even a diabetic!

Dear (): The lack of discussion of BP may be because it just doesn't come up. If BP is running high, excercise (moderate) to start can be help in addition to meds and a reduced sodium diet with lots of water. Later, with care, lifting will help. There is a microsecond boost in blood pressure, but it does quickly come down. Proper form is essential. Your personal trainer and doctor can guide you here.

Jessica, by all means take your medicine and monitor your BG. You can go to your nearest clinic and they will help you. You should do alot of reasearch on Diabetes and nutrition to help you also.

I take diavan 160mg/12.5. So it has a little bit of a water pill in it. What should my blood pressures be reading. On my machine they say anything from 114/79 to 139/89. When ever I go to the dr office they are always running higher. Is it my machine or stress from going to the dr's office and how do you know? Should I add more meds or keep going the way I am. I'm confussed about the whole thing.
