Dear Bill: Yes and no. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol, and can be used in moderation by those under good control. Personally, I consider the calories from sorbitol too. BTW, in too high a quantity, it can upset the stomach.

Peter: What is your diet like? When I am active over long periods of time, I have to ingest 3000-3500 calories/day, including in excess of 100 grams of complete protein.

Dear La Gata; After you choose the place where to use the lancet, try closing your eyes before you press the button; that should help allay the fear. Try practicing on an orange with a clean lancet. It shouldn't take long to overcome the fear!
