physical therpy 3 times a week trying to get the blood flowing to my feet again,
I have insurance but it still cost me 45 dollars a week in co-pay plus gas to
run back and forth 30 miles. I has to get an eye exam and it was 50 and they
found a leaker in my left eye so I had to go to the eye instutue, again 30 miles
away and that cost 180.00. There just isn't any end to the cost. They talk alot
about helping the elderly with costs, which they need help, but what about all
the millions of other people that need help to.

therapy. After 20 years of successful treatment with insulin, my body began to
"reject" the insulin. We added Glucophage to my regimen to help increase my
sensitivity to the insulin. It does seem to be working as my A1C, which had
crept up to 7.8, is now down to 6.4. My pump actually alerted me to the problem.
Instead of the insulin being absorbed into my tissues, it would pool at the
insertion site of the cannula. The pooling would cause the pump to shut off and
set off an alarm. We thought perhaps the insertion site was simply in too much
scar tissue. However, after moving the insertion site to previously unused sites
such as my calf (by the way, I do NOT recommend this site!), my buttocks, and my
hip, the same thing happened. We also checked to make sure I simply didn't have
a bad vial of insulin. Turns out, my tissues simply weren't absorbing. I will
admit I don't know exactly HOW the Glucophage is working - - I just know it is!
If I had not been using this particular pump (MiniMed 812) with such a
sophisticated alarm system, I'm not sure I would have known as quickly what was
happening.

my insulin sensitivity. I was bothered in the beginning by mild nausea, but that
is pretty much resolved. Hopefully, your doctor has told you of the need to have
frequent liver function tests, as Gucophage has been documented to cause liver
problems for some people. In my opinion, it's a good drug, but potential for
side effects should be monitored closely.
