I am diabetic and also suffer from fibromyalgia. That affects the joints and soft muscle tissue. It can be really pain ful. I do alot of massages and streching and that seems to help. Have you talked to your doctor about your problem?

I am diabetic and probabaly was a borderline case for the past 10-15 years. It was not detected and was detected only recently. During my earlier days I used to feel tried and mentallya dn physically very exhauseted but was unable to comprehend the cause for teh same. Since my diabetes has been detected I have been feeling better gradually, however I am still having this continous muscle pain in my middle back which temporaraily subsides with analgesics. However I am not able to find a permanant solution to the problem. I have also started to walk which graually helps me and have been taking regular massages also. Please advise if there are any remedies for the same.

Sandra, you really need to talk to a dietian. We all expencence high blood sugars, it's usually because we eat to much and don't get enough insulin or exercise.I would say 4 to 6 cups of hot chocolate a day are to many. I use milk to bring me out of a low sugar.BS has a habit of going up during the night for alot of people. I can't tell you what to eat, it's different for all people that's why you should talk to a dietian. They will go over everthing with you. Good luck

It depends on each person. I test at least 6 to 10 times a day. When you've been on insulin for along time you don't get the feeling any more that your going into low sugar. So I test alot to be on the safe side. If it is running high I take a little insulin and if it's low I eat something. But what works for one person doesn't always work for another. I would say you should probably check it at least three times a day. And maybe check it at different times each day so you know what your bs are doing before a meal and after a meal.

Glycemic Index surprise! One would think Grapenuts, a high fiber cereal, would be low on the list. Not so! It rates a 96, on the high side. Of course, 1/2cup to a cup of nonfat cottage cheese will lower the figure for the whole meal. To help sugar control, it makes sense to never eat carbs by themselves, except during hypoglycemia. Once recovered, a serving of grain bread with tuna fish will help prevent a recurrence. A moderate fat serving, say 1 tbsp peanut butter, helps also. Squats

Nigel: Are you sedentary? If so, a SLOW beginning of regular activity might help, along with a glucosamine supplement. Start with short walks or stints on a treadmill. As flexibility increases, leg extensions at a gym will help the knees and a few sets on a pecdec will help as well. Start light and work up from there. Resistance excercise over the long term can strengthen tendons and ligaments. That should help the pain! Take care

Hi, I am 23 years old, 10 years as a type 2 diabetic in Brisbane, Australia this year. For over 6 years, I have had increasingly severe join pain, beginning with my knees, in which they stifen up and it is hard to straighten them without a lot of pain. It has moved to my back, shoulders and spine. I have had daily headaches for longer and no doctor or specialist can tell me what is wrong with me. My Endochrinologist tells me my diabetes are in excellent control and the best I have heard is that I 'might' have tendenitas but there is no way of treating it properly. Most GPs have told me that they cannot do much for me and that it is unusual for someone of my age to have such pain. Can anybody PLEASE help me?! I am getting desperate. I really want to know 1. What is actually wrong with me and 2. What can I do about it??!! Nigel.
