What a shame? I really like this site and get alot of imformation and help that I use. It's nice to have some where to get to get other people's inopions. I have a hard time answering any problems because I'm clue less about alot of things. I have heard people say what type of meds they are taking and alot of them I have never heard of them. Different kinds of insulin that I didn't know excisted. I hope that everyone will come back, I hate to see this site closed.

Judging by the lack of activity on this site, I guess it is finally out of business by default. A shame -- folks here were quite helpful when I was diagnosed some years back.

I've been on a low dose of Glucotrol XL for about seven years. My medical insurer now requires generics, so the pharmacy switched me over to Glipizide. My blood sugars have been running higher and I've been having a heck of a time getting them down. Has anyone had any experience with generic Glipizide not working as well as Glucotrol ? I thought this was one of the generics that was pretty much equal with the name brand, so it may be that I finally need a larger dose. So far, my doctor is avoiding that to see if I can get things under control through other means. Anyway, I'd be interested in finding out if anyone had problems with gilipizide being less effective.

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd give my opinion on Kerasal (sp) a new foot cream for very dry feet. Since I've been diabetic my feet have been like sandpaper but this stuff cleared them up in a week. Just thought I'd pass that along.

Keisha; Where do you live? I don't know what 7.3 means. In the United States we measure blood sugar differently. Mine was 650 at first. I am a type 1 and wear an insulin pump, and am better. Certainly all of your other symptoms could be caused by diabetes and you MAY be a type 1, since you are 11. Don't be afraid, but get to the Doctor as SOON as you can! It's really important. It's not your fault, and the doctor can help. If you want to write, please do.

Jack: You are right! If one is active, though, and the weather hot, MORE may be needed. It should be remembered that gov't recommendations are not ideal; they are minimal.

Even tho we pee a lot with diabetes, we still need to drink a lot more water than most of us do. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated! I think that is also true when we retain water. I drink 4 liters of water a day.
