No sugary desserts and control the amounts to be eaten but a balanced meal. My

I know you use squakfreak, but if you don't mind I will use CB. Where do you get
the info on what is sufficient and sufficient to who? And that is a good point
that you bring that up because I think, without reading all the back posts, that
your sufficient needs are in preportion to your weightlifting, am I wrong with
that? And can you tolerate that SUFFICIENCY for a sustained period of time
without damage. Forget about others for a second, I want to just find out what
YOUR doing and if you may or may not be setting yourself up. You do seem to have
a belief in that you need more than what your CDE and your Endo have told you,
so SUFFICIENT would need to be defined as a "normal" doabetic, well aint that an
oxymoron? Do you see what I am saying? I am sure you are right that some here
would have problems changing a 5 gallon water bottle. But there are probably so
many more factors involved in that. As for me, I eat cheeseburgers! No,
seriously, to tell you the truth, I don't follow a diet. I eat sensibly, meaning
I will have chicken with peas, garlic bread and salad. Breakfast I would have
something like fruit, cottage cheese and some wheat toast. I don't weigh foods,
I estimate carbs, and I never in my life looked at a diabetic breakdown. I
talked about this with my nutitionist who said I have a very healthy diet, and
although I cannot breakdown things such as grams of protein I eat, I feel fine,
I look fine, my numbers are good and I don't overdo anything. Just being honest,
I really don't care if I could get more of this or a little less of that.
Balance is what I follow. And I understand that your balancing out your needs to
your workouts, I get that. Probably hard to believe, but I am asking these
things to make sure your not going blindly into what you do, that you know there
may be a price to pay. I also can be very wrong and you are right in line with
what you should be. That is precisely why I asked. Also I take Centrum with
luetin (sp) that's the only vitamins I take. Well take it easy.......Marc

CB... you probably think I hate you and am always jumping on you, not the
case. You know that other then you, I work out more than anyone else here, so I
understand. Let me feed back to you what I read and see if you see my point. You
speak of CDE's and Dr's not knowing anything and you know what it takes. It
works for you, you build muscle mass and the extra protein intake works well in
your weightlifting case. Great, now if you get 30, 40 years from this routine
and nothing happens, more power to you. Let me pose a question to you. Say in 5
years you find out the ADA, CDE's and Dr's actually were educated and knew what
they were talking about. Say they had long term in mind. That where you are now
causes excess strain on your kidney's and in 5 years, instead of going to the
gym each day, your going in for dialysis? What scares me about your posts and
your approach to this disease is it's a short term approach. Even if you have
been diabetic for a long time, it still is a short term approach. I think we
need to look at needing to get 30-40-50 years from our kidney's ,eyes,
everything. To risk long term by saying it works for you now, are you willing to
pay that ultimate price later? And have you considered a happy medium where your
not taking the pushing of your body to such lengths but can still produce muscle
mass? I would ask yourself a few of these questions, and maybe visualize
dialysis and think are these muscles and body mass worth my future? I know you
will say what your doing won't effect it, but your going against the grain of
every specialist who studies diabetes. I can't see how the entire diabetic
community is wrong for long term and you are right. You know I hate to see
people in trouble with this disease, I wouldn't want to sign in here one day and
read that your kidneys gave out from the excess.... take it easy and you have my
e-mail if you want to talk about this. I am curious about what you think....

CB... I respectfully disagree. It would seem if your right, then a lot of
the "oldtimers" here should be dead already. There is basic nutrition, and there
is extreme nutrition. Your views engage your thoughts of weight lifting and
muscle mass. Most people here view walking as excercise. It just is different
needs for different philosophies. If your not building muscle, then loading up
on protein and amino acids is bad. Remember, what works for you doesn't mean it
will work for others. Just please keep that in mind when you make blanket
statements, that not everyone can just plug into your system, and my opinion is
your system is going to backfire on you anyway. Once again, it is just an
opinion, but your protein intake is through the roof, with you I know you use it
to convert to muscle, but imagine if people here followed your guidelines and
then walked for exercise what a mess that would be for them. And with all your
talk about the doctor doesn't know and you would need more protein, aren't you
having kidney problems? I know you think that there isn't a dr or nutritionist
out there that is worth a dime, but maybe they know something here. Just a
thought..... take it easy. Also, if this pissed you off, read it again before
responding, I am just expressing an opposing view. Thanks.... Marc

It seems to me that a good
course in basic nutrition is needed here!!! The long term effects od siwtary

function, and too little protein decimates the immune system, causes muscke

if we could speak with them and they immediately agreed. Invited us into their
homes without question. Answered all of our questions that they were able to.
One lady took us out to eat and showed us points of interest. The house that my
father grew up in, the house that my great grandparents lived in and the high
school that my Dad graduated from. Also showed us where the old Vossler Bottling
Works used to be. It was really a wonderful trip. Lots of information to be had
at the library and the courthouse and health department. I would like to go back
some day just to go through some of the antique stores and walk around the town.
Of course while there I would do some more research. I have so much information
on three different family lines that I really do have to get busy and file it
and connect some more dots. Tomorrow I go pick up my daughters lawn mower so
that I can mow our yard. It's up to my knees in some places. The weather here is

High winds almost everyday. Hope tomorrow its not so windy. It should be in the
mid 60's and cloudy, but then its been cloudy for two weeks now. Also quite a
bit of rain. Tomorrow night or Thrusday my daughter is due in from Virginia on
her way to Georgia and then Texas where her husband has been transfered to the

marawanna. That ought to learn him. Id sure like to take a big pointy stick to
him. Its no wunder my sugers are hi. Im lonely but gray skies are going to clear
up and Ill put on my happy face maybe tommarrow. Porkyoupines are dangerus. I
met slim Whitman once. That was back before I carried such a wide load.Ha Ha. I
think he winked at me. I sure do hate dogs. We are going to get a lightning
storm today and maybe he will get frinch fride by a bolt of it. And I wouldn't
cry one bit. I cant walk to good but if I could Id do a little jig around his
smoking butt. Then I wouldn't have to here that dam barking. I like that speech
john kennedy gave. Well I have to go try to stare him down. Hes barking again.
Dam dog. I love you all. Lilly

Good morning
everyone. It's nice to see some normalcy (sp)here for once. Marc B- I have tons
of trouble with my feet/ankles and my doctor prescribes the anti-inflammitory
Naproxen. It's a very good drug that does nothing to my bs. I researched
Celebrex and the warnings/side effects scared me away.Have a good day everyone.
