Sam, I am really sorry to hear
of your ex's illness! From this end, got a body composition test today, and
bodyfat has dropped 6 percent in the last year with little weight loss; a good
sign. The method used was electronic, which could be 3-5 percent off either way,
but all in all, a good sign! Jim: Glad to see you posting again!

Hi, just lurking out here, taking
care of my Ex now, who is in home Hospice. He has last stage colon cancer now. I
am doing o.k. on the pump, not eating much, losing weight, but there are fresh
blueberries. I do well on yogurt & fruit. Wishing all well. Sam, the
Wanderer.

Hulda: I take Metformin (1000 mg
2x daily). It's designed to help regulate your blood sugar levels. It does this
by reducing the glucose (sugar) produced by the liver; it prevents the
absorption of sugar from food and it is supposed to help the insulin you produce
work better. Some things to keep in mind: (1) Take a calcium & B-12 vitamin
daily (sometimes metformin can cause deficiencies); (2) Avoid alcohol and (3)
call your doctor if you feel general discomfort or sickness; weakness; sore or
aching muscles; trouble breathing, unusual drowsiness, dizziness or
lightheadedness; unusual or unexplained stomach upset (metformin taken on an
empty stomach will cause nausea, so be sure to ALWAYS TAKE IT WITH FOOD); or the
sudden development of a slow or irregular heartbeat. These may be signs of
lactic acidosis. I hope this helps.

Hi Hulda. Welcome! I don't take
that for my diabetes, but I'm sure someone here does, and will help. Feel free
to keep asking questions. Also, regarding diabetes, the best advice is this:
READ READ READ, and learn to understand your disease as well as can be expected.

I have recently
been told that I have type 2 diabetes, and that I should join a support group
and seek help on-line. The doctor has given me a prescription for Metformin
1000MG, is this a lot? I don't know much about this disease and can use the
information that a support group might give. Can you help? Thank you

Herb! Doing ok. In the gym 4-5
days per week and back on a diet regimen to lean out and get stronger. Losing
fat but weight is holding, a good sign. Finally done with Diabetes seminars;
they disgust me, cause I see what is done to people. So, I make use of what I
know, get necessary tests done, and it is working. Please post when you return
from OKC!

It's so good to hear from you guys
again. I haven't been here so I don't know about Squats. I stay sort of in
distant touch with Faith. She has had some serious family problems. I see a lot
of the others that use to be here on other boards. Jodi is telling me to shut
this down that it is time to go. We are leaving for OKC to visit Beth and for me
to see the Optamologist about cataract surgery for m e. Herb

Jim... BABY!!!!! Yes that is
right. Julie is pregnant, our baby girl is due Nov 25th. A lot of things have
changed since last year. Things are going good and I couldn't be more ready, as
for my fears, well I am still here. 3 years ago I was convinced I would be dead
by now. I could spend my whole life scared of more complications, or I could
live life and take whatever comes my way. I felt it was time to live life, and
that meant a family. And you know womens golf is getting pretty
big!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Jim... good job on the not
smoking. Have you turned out like me, totally disgusted by smoke? I became one
of those ex smokers that I hated when I smoked, but that was 18 years ago. I
think some still read every once in a while. So Holcom(sp) is starting? Great
pick, I liked Couch in college but the guy doesn't have it yet in the pros. You
guys play out here I think. I would go to that but my baby is going to born
right in the middle of football season! The way my team looks, that's probably
for the best. I still gotta shop for all the baby gear, she's gotta be a BOLTS
baby! Well take it easy..... Marc
