My doctor had changed one of my oral diabetic meds. For a while,I wasn't feeling too well,due to the change of Avandia. Now I'm ok. To 9:40: I've been thinking back and remembered something that I've been doing differently. I started drinking a daily large mug of chamomile tea sweetened with sweet-n-low about that time. For relaxation, but can't tell that it has helped my stress level! Does chamomile raise blood sugar? Anyway, I have an endo appt for next Thurs, and they are calling in some Keflex in case it is the dental thing. Still feel awful. The tea had chamomile, rose hips, and assorted citrus rinds.

Hey ho! Ive been listening to that darned dog for too hours strate now. Every time I walk out there I cant see or hear the dog any more. May be its drove me crazy I dont know. I was forced to read a book in first grade called go dog go. I wouldnt have minded so much but I hate dogs real bad. I had a dog that bited me when I was 8 and my daddy got rid of him. There are no dogs in my basement. I think my dieabedes is out of controll. Last night I had hi readings. I think my cat can sence when my suger is hi. The space shuttle is poluteing our world. I saw a bug crall out of my moniter the other day. Well there goes that dar dog again. I have to go. I think I will go over and jab him with a big pointy stick. That ought to learn him. I think I need a new bed. Even thow I cant sleep two well cause of that darned dog I think that is why I get a crick in my neck. Do you ever have a crick in you neck. It hurts real bad. I tokk 10 assperins and it didnt do nothing to help. Id like to give that dog a bunch of assperins. Knock it out for a while so I can sleep. I sure do hate dogs. Bambi..do you have an Endo? Are you checking with keytone strips? I use the strips that show ketones/glucose...when ill. If you are using the potty a lot, may be dehydrated, then monitor will not give an accurate reading. Mine said 132 once, and I was in DKA. Over 600+ ..good luck!!

OK folks, I need advice. I've been running 250-300 for the past 2 months. I'm in terrible pain with foot pain. Going to the potty every few minutes. Achy, feeling sick. You guys know how it is to be running out of control like this. Saw internist and there is no infection according to labs. Only possible thing is a slightly swollen spot on my gum. Could a dental problem cause this much havoc?

Paul, I understand what you are going through. I've been a "D" for almost 33 years this July. I've had many a year behind me where I did not follow the doctors instructions. But, praise be, I've not suffered the dire results that others on here have. For the last 8 years, I've been on an insulin pump. It has been great! It is not any more intrusive then injecting. You are required to wear it 24/7, but it is small enough, about the size of a pager, to wear where no one will know it's even there. The freedom it has been giving me is wonderful. I will be the closest person to resemble your situation, although many will have great advice. Listen to them and we can talk later. The pump effects your life in many ways, mostly if not all good. The herb worked no better than a placebo in a study of 200 adults diagnosed with major depression. In an earlier analysis of some 23 studies on St. John's wort on patients with less severe forms of the disease, the herb was found to be significantly superior to a placebo and just as effective as standard antidepressant drugs. But Dr. Richard Shelton, a co-author of the new study, said earlier studies had serious limitations, and he recommended against using St. John's wort at all until further studies could be done. "I would like to see people with mild depression studied, and see if it works in those folks. If it works, that would be great," said Shelton, a professor in the department of psychiatry at Vanderbilt University. The study was funded partly by the National Institutes of Mental Health and partly by Pfizer Incorporated, which makes Zoloft, the most commonly prescribed anti-depression drug in the United States. It had $2.14 billion in sales last year. But it doesn't seem to matter whether doctors recommend using St. John's wort or not -- it appears to have become a popular self-treatment for depression without the help of physicians. One psychiatrist said nearly half his patients tried the herb before coming to him for help. "Even if only 10 percent of all depressed subjects have tried St. John's wort, that would still make it about a million people in the U.S. alone," said the psychiatrist, Dr. P. Murali Doraiswamy, director of psychiatry clinical trials at Duke University Medical Center. The journal study said the herb appears to be safe. However, the National Institutes of Health said research has shown that it may interfere with the effectiveness of several drugs, including protease inhibitors used to treat HIV, cyclosporine and other immunosuppressant drugs, cholesterol-lowering medications, cancer medications, seizure drugs, blood thinners and birth control pills. Robert McCaleb, president of the Herb Research Foundation, said he wondered if perhaps the funding source for the study influenced the finding that the herb was ineffective against depression. "I don't want to accuse anyone of conspiracy here, but I'm sure the results don't displease [Pfizer]," McCaleb said. In the article, the authors note that Pfizer representatives were involved in the design and preparation of the study but not the analysis and interpretation of the results. "When we provide unrestricted educational grants, they're exactly that," said Celeste Torello, a spokeswoman for Pfizer. At the time the study was done, Pfizer also sold St. John's wort, but the company stopped selling herbs last year because it wasn't profitable, according to Meghan Marschall, a spokeswoman for Pfizer.
