May 10 27:O9 First of all, I did not post the results of the 24 hour test I took for kidney function! Second, I suspect your AiC was somewhat higher, which is probably better. I ought to have shared what was done to get those figures, which I didn't! The last 5 posts here have been worthless!

It's been quite some time since I posted, and much has changed for the better with my Type II diabetes. My medication was doubled in December, and by early April, I finally decided I'd had enough of sitting around whining about it all. I enrolled in a hospital-run weight management program and am consuming shakes (nutritionally balanced, not all protein) and packaged meals. I am off all the diabetes medication, and my blood sugars have been steadily dropping. At the start of the program, my fasting blood sugar was in the 190s. My morning test is now running between 120 and 140. I've also lost ten pounds in three weeks. The critical component is exercise, exercise, exercise. I'm doing about 45 minutes a day and feel wonderful. I also see an internist weekly, attend a weekly health education class and have blood tests every two weeks, just to make sure things are actually going as well as I think they are. The program is not cheap, but my husband and I decided it was an investment well worth making. I'm even doing some occasional strength training. Guess some of us old dogs can indeed learn some new tricks afer all !

I simply do not experience many of the problems I read of on this site. Yes, I am facing some complications; mild so far. Yes, I am following my doc's orders as best I can. But, after almost 50 years with Diabetes, I still have my sight, limbs, etc. I do not experience digestive problems; I do not have heart disease, etc. Therefore, I have to share from reading!
