Grannypj: Thanks for the update
on the Russian! Waht does it say that the ap's do not even acknowledge this
request of yours? Since very few of us really discuss diabetes anymore here, I
am tempted to remove this place from my favorites list. Did legs for the second
time this week yesterday; they are sore. Will hit them again Wed. Lifting gets
rid of a lot o9f stress. Of course, I shouldn't mention that here! Working out,
according to some here, is not for the diabetic. BTW, how is Pete doing?

well good
evening everyone. I see everyone is in their usual form. So maybe some actual
news will take your minds off your own problems diabetic and otherwise. The
young Ukrainian who wrote a while back is in the hospital tonight in very
critical condition. He is 20 years old, has already lost one kidney. Just before
Christmas he was very sick for a while but he was trying to finish his semester
- majoring in botony in college. Well he has taken a turn for the worse. His
younger sister is writing to his internet friends. She had an English dictionary
which is a sight better than I had. But thru simple sentences and the wonders of
the Emoticon we were able to communicate. She is very sad and she is very
frightened. She is diabetic as well. They don't have medical care available the
way most of us do. So those here of the religious bent - ANY religion - some
prayers would be welcome for this family in Ukraine. The rest of you could just
have some good 'karma' in their direction.

No! I am of Jewish background. I
did recognize the words as yiddish. But why post one yiddish word here? Note
Paul's question below; why did you not encourage him? A Diabetes diagnosis can
be a real downer. I guess I am addressing one who will not post anything of
worth to help anybody. I do not know if you are a six year old or an "adult".
For now, I am done with questioning irrelevant, senseless posts!

Paul: Getting control of blood
sugars early can help a lot! Diabetes involves a close relationship with your
doctor, nutritionist, and personal trainer (if you have one!). The general
guidelines look easy on paper, but real life is different. This is where that
tie with your care team is so important! Follow their counsel closely. If
something they recommend doesn't work for you, let them know. Learn as much as
you can about diabetes, nutrition, activities, etc. After nearly fifty years
with this thing, I still seek to learn more. ...and I can still lift weights!
Diabetes is incurable for now, but it CAN BE CONTROLLED! Stay positive Paul!

Faith, are you justifying the criticisms
the Squats/CB levels against those posts he feels don't follow HIS guidelines? I
don't think you are, but your post leaves some doubts. Attacks/criticisms by
anyone, including Squats, are unnecessary and add nothing to the board. Like
someone else said, he does seem to like to draw attention to himself. How
diabetic-related is that??????

I've EVER encountered! He tries to justify his egocentric rantings as diabetes
related, but they're really just about drawing attention to himself.

I'd like to see this site get back to what it was, but I don't believe that
will ever happen.

I think
the topic of discussion is "Share your thoughts about diabetes." There are
several sites where you can go and post a question and an "expert" or "team of
experts" will give you an answer. But you only get one answer and its probably
the textbook they are using answer. Which is good but thoughts and trial and
error and feelings aren't part of the answer. That is what is good about this
site. You can express yourself.

Squats, if the subjects here are
diabetes, control of it, discussions of med side effects, diet, exercise,
complications, etc., then please let us know where your continuing criticisms of
other posts, silly or not, fits YOUR OWN definition of what should be posted
here. I'm having a difficult time figuring out how your criticism provides any
information, answers any legit question. I think you post those criticisms just
to stir the pot and get a reaction from people. But how does that help? By
criticizing, are you not just adding to the problem?

"ulreash", "yenta", "goyum" are
meaningless posts! Since when is criticizing such "holier than thou"? This ought
to be a source of information, a place where diabetics can post legit questions
and get them answered. People will disagree; that is fine! I wish I could
remember the names of the people who no longer post because of this stuff. If my
criticism of the cited silliness doesn't help, what of those who posted it? Who
or what does that help? I will be surprised if I get a real answer other than an
attack! The subjects here are Diabetes, control of it, discussions about med
side effects, diet, exercise, complications, etc.

Hello. I
had bad eating habits and was on 1500mg of glucophage and taking 30 units of
insulin a day. I couldn't get my fasting blood sugar down cause I still ate the
wrong things. I had gastric bypass surgery since I was much too fat, as well. Is
there anyone else here who had RNY to help control their diabetes? Is your
diabetes staying in remission now that you are slim? I'm off all medications now
and my fasting BS level is in the 80's. This is a great thrill but I am
wondering if it lasts cause we stay slim or will it creep back into our lives.
I'ld appreciate feedback on anyone who has lost a great deal of weight and got
off medications because of it and wonder if your diabetes has stayed in
remission in the long term. Thanks.

The post below your last one made
good sense. I am on insulin, but do know of bad eating habits with oral meds.
Recently, I have found that some "sweets" are completely unpredictable regarding
glucose levels. I must therefore avoid them! The following could help you
though: Ask your doctor about being hooked to a machine that will record and
graph glucose levels for 24 hours. Record time and quantity of everything you
ingest. Keep records of all activities. The doc may be able to adjust
diet/medications to get better control. The company that produces the glucowatch
makes this. I do not know what your diet is like, but lots of veggies and
restriction of carb sources to whole grain items might help. Ask the doc about
taking glutamine. It has helped me. Obviously, clear it with your doctor
first!!!!!
