Dear Crystal, Sorry but GOD does NOT
love all people, if you would just read PAUL's Wonderful First Epistle to The
Thessalonians you would understand that "Zionists"are displeasing to the LORD !
And that many are involved in stem cell research for the money to be gained, WE
SHOULD oppose this IN HIS NAME. Thank You.

stem cell research is not
against gods will, god cannot be happy about all the suffering, he loves us all
and wants us all to be healty and happy..Learn to speak your own opinion and not
to speak for everyone else.

the poster at 11:40, I can not fear what does not exist! And from where I sit,
if religion gets you the inner peace you so obviously enjoy, give me sin and
satan anytime.......

all???? YOU DO NOT OWN THIS BOARD!!!! Why not contribute something about YOUR
diabetes? Something useful...certainly not an opinion, that we do not all share.
People need their own opinions, not a blank wall staring at them, and a saying
"this is not allowed".! I take it you ARE the "religious right"..give it a
break!!I am a type 1 diabetic, this is a tough thing to think about, and I won't
have some religious nut making choices for me. And it's you that prays for war
also? what a strange human. ANYONE CAN POST HERE THAT HAS
DIABETES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he keeps sniffing things he is going to die from the
poison. IF he lives thru this habit he could be seriously brain damaged. This
isn't anything new for teens. I wouldn't worry about his bloodsugars at all!!
They are the least of the problems. So he will stop taking his shots.....,tell
him go right ahead. You cannot let him BLACKMAIL you emotionally. By the way,
you can't really enforce counselling, tried that with one of mine and she sat
there an hour at a time as the clock ticked. I turned one of my sons in to the
police - took years to resolve the upshot but I did the right thing and
certainly never felt guilty about it. TAKE HIM TO HIS DOCTOR AND TELL THE DOCTOR
WITH THE KID SITTING THERE. If this is criminal behavior in your state the
doctor is bound by law to report it then YOU didn't report your son. All you did
was take him to the doctor. DON'T WASTE ANY TIME. TAKE A DAY OFF WORK AND GET
HIM SEEN BEFORE YOU LOSE HIM

with Stem cell Cloneing with non-goverment funding. Says reasearch is so
promising that they will go ahead with human stem cell cloning without govt
funds and in spite of the vocal opposition of the religious right.

Granny: Keep us posted as to
Pete's progress. Some more thoughts on the "brittleness". When bs goes too low,
the body compensates by releasing glycogen, which can over compensate. The amino
acid "glutamine" can help even that out. Never eating carbs without fat and
protein can help as well. I find glutamine does help me.

Mari; Your son is
in real trouble. Most chemical things affect B.S. for a type 1. Either way up,
or down! He needs to understand that this can kill him! He won't be 16 forever,
but this is a deadly habit. Get counseling for him if you can. If you don't have
insurance there are programs that can help.

oh good
grief! just watched Pete take his reading - he doesn't look real good this
morning and said he just has a headache is all. 480. Highest I have seen it on
him. I will alert Molly so she will be prepared. Says he is fine for chores and
milking, just gonna be slow. He will use the sliding scale and add 1 extra R per
50 over 250.

Our family doctor is taking over the case (Pete's dr for 3 years is 60 miles
away, drive is too long now). We are going to write up a summation of the case
history back to day 1 and get it to the doctor before the appointment so he will
be up to speed and hit this one already running. Blood sugars are his usual
39-300 without rhyme of reason. He is testing every few hours during the day and
compensating with food or insulin as needed to keep pulling them back up or
down. Every now and then the doctors are thrown a case to keep them humble and
this is one although we won't go to doctors with attitudes. His doctor and our
family doctor are really humble gentle souls who work very diligently for their
patients. THANKS for the suggestion Squats, we will watch most specifically for
influenza. HERE'S ANOTHER QUESTION THOUGH - he had a large growing lump in a
lymph node and yes we know the full range of possibilities. But the question is:
how well do seriously brittle Type I's do on radiation and chemo??? just in case
we hit the worst case scenario.

I just caught my 16
year old type 1 son and his girlfrienf sniffing paint thinner, aside from the
apparent problems will this affect his BS readings ? I am wondering if I can use
his readings to find if he is still doing this activity ? He is dificult to
control and says he will refuse to take his shots if I go to the police or a
counselor. I am a single mom and work 3 jobs so I cannot watch him every second.
Thank You Mari

Some people are allergic to DNA
Recombinant Insulins, so they must use the animal type. Allergic reactions are
rare, but they DO occur. It is also true that hypoglycemia is not often felt as
quickly with human insulins. I do not read the post on this subject as a scare
tactic, but something that sometimes needs to be looked at.

Grannypj: I am not a doc, but it
sounds to me that a complete checkup is in order! Could be stress or something
worse. Pete needs to see the doctor. How are the glucose readings? If they are
running too high, getting them down might help. He could be coming down with
something. A checkup is the only way to know.

to the
stalwarts: 16 years free of side-effects and all of a sudden extreme
pain/numbness in feet; cold feet and hands; vision blurring off and on;
increased headaches in severity and incidence; stomach aches and indigestion;
beginning sexual dysfunction. hmm Stress or a sudden onset of all of the
symptoms? Wouldn't a normal pattern be for one or two at a time to show up? OR
maybe these things have been escalating slowly and finally are prominent?
ideas?
