Mandy, you are right. However, one should be as stable as possible before the pump is used. Also, it needs to be known exactly how much insulin will reduce bg by a specified amount.

I haven't posted on here for a while, I am sorry for my little outburst the other day.....I am now over it. I asked my diabetic nurse about getting an insulin pump, and she said that you have to have stable bloodsugars, I thought that the reason for the pumps was to help people with unstable blood sugars.

I heard about this last month. Like Pete, a pump will not work for me. Will ask the doc about this. A good way to learn how things are going, especially when asleep!

Very good post on the CGMS piloted at Crozer-Chester. I had to go do some research....by the way, type CGMS on Google and it brings it right up, this is getting easier. The post, however, pre-supposes two things - access to that level of technology and physicians knowledgeable enough to use it, and insurance. Pumps were ruled out because of occupation - farming, which is not a 'controlled exercise' environment. But it looks like an excellent product for many people. The GOOD NEWS for Squats and Faith etc. is Pete has virtually NO SIDE EFFECTS from his diabetes after 15 years. Doesn't mean he always feels well but he has all the tests done on a regular basis and takes excellent care of himself, and not one pound overweight. So it isn't all dismal.

How To Handle Anger During Low Blood Sugars by John Walsh, P.A., C.D.E., and Ruth Roberts, M.A. Copyright (c) 1997, 2001 by Diabetes Services, Inc. Anger during a low blood sugar is usually triggered by the release of stress hormones. Normally, the release of these hormones gradually helps return blood sugar levels to normal. But these "fight or flight" hormones and the associated hypoglycemia also have a darker side that makes it harder for a person to react in a normal way. It helps in this altered situation for others to recognize as early as possible that a low blood sugar is taking place so that it may be treated quickly. Here are common symptoms that indicate a low blood sugar is underway.

Faith When I go low I do get a little frustrated, but only with myself for not getting it before I need help. I have shouted at my husband I think a few times, but I seem to keep calm now, I personally don't think that anyone has to lash out at people who are trying to help them, and I know some of you are going to jump on me for saying that, but that is my point of veiw.

I am not too bad with my diabetes, just trying to get it slightly better than what it is. I was constantly hypo, so I never had any symptoms that I was hypo, until I got to about 2.0 mmols or lower then I would sometimes pass out, so I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of these little gadgets.
