I looked over some previous chats because a family member has been diagnosed as glucose intolerant and instructed to change his eating habits or risk becoming diabetic. Rather than information and suggestions, I found primarily ranting vindictiveness and diatribe. I'm amazed that people can act like this. (Yes, I know anonymity can bring out the worst in us.) I can only hope that the sponsors of this "chat" can bring the situation under control. I see no way that it will serve its intended purpose otherwise.

Hey Squats, I leafed through for the info among the books I have at home but couldn't find what I was talking about so I think that I either read about it in books borrowed from the library or somewhere on the web. Sorry about that :( But do check this site: www.strongbones.org - you can read about osteoporosis and also about a link between milk proteins and diabetes if you click on "Dairy Products: No Longer Recommended or Required" from the list on the home page. Hope it helps! Please let me know what you think.

Tasha: To answer your question in a roundabout way, a well known shake for diabetics uses maltodextrin and fructose with safflower oil (fat) to slow rise in blood sugur. Also, fructose can be used by some diabetics as a sweetener. Since oranges, figs, papayas, mangos, cantaloupe, tangerines, etc. have high nutrient value, they should be worked into the diet, ideally with protein (not a lot!!) and complex carbs to help maintain blood sugar control. It is refreshing to deal reasonably on line!

That's why I still read, because it is sooo funny to watch you miss the obvious. I will help you. The post you just put up is the post I referred to as the other post I have made. So that went straight over your head. Second, and much more scary then anything you acuse me of, do you keep a folder of my posts? Am I like your cyber obsession and if not, what would possibly be the purpose of posting that. And you should read that post, positivity can change your life. I swear, it's like an adrenaline rush. It probably is like how Faith feels about her religion, she found god and I found the power of positive thinking. You know what it got me? my own business, a new house, an A1C of 5.9, etc. It's a beautiful thing. I know that is hard for you to get, but you should try it. Say some positive reinforcements to yourself every day and see if you hate yourself as much. .......Marc

My being here will be a one day thing probably, but I have a lengthy post ahead. To those who don't know me, don't bother reading it. On Dec 14th of last year something happened to me that I will not discuss here. But it made me look at my life and what was going on with me. I learned a lot about myself, some I will talk about here. I learned that I never dealt with my eyes. I physically dealt with them but mentally I was trashed. I locked myself in the safest place I could find, my home, came here and took on a whole new and terrible personality. I acted in the most negative way I could and was angry as you could possible be.

Squats, thank you for the civil answer as well. Is it same when fructose is extracted from fruit as in that case there're no fibers to slow down the absorption? About milk v. osteoporosis - not sure now which book it was but will check that out for you and come back with the title.
