Herb, it's
great that your going turkey hunting, deer hunting, fishing and all that
outdoorsy type of things. Me, I'm not into any of that but I do love the spring
time when things start to grow and the weather warms up and the kids can go out
and play. With taking care of a two year old everyday working in the yard is a
good way to let her go out and play and be able to be out there with her. She's
to young to go out without supervision so I do yard work while she plays and
trys to help grandma. The weather here is simply beautiful. The first part of
the morning it was raining but by noon the sun was shining and the temperature
was up near 60. Oh what a beautiful day. In a couple of weeks my youngest
brother and I are going on a 2 day trip to Wapakoneta, Ohio and see about some
of our family roots. Thats were our Dad's family settled when they came over
from Germany. I know it will not only be educational but it will be fun spending
that quality time with my brother. Gordo, I got the palpack or whatever it's
called and it's downloaded and works just fine. I looked for you earlier but
didn't see you and now it's time to close up shop and go to bed. Good night all
pleasant dreams

Hi all! It has been
a crazy three weeks and my bs is going around like a roller coaster. We laid my
Uncle to rest yesterday and I had fifty people back at my house. My bs went to
320 and down to 29. I only blame myself but it is hard to know how stress is
going to play a part in the day. Today I am back on track and exhausted. I see
my kidney doctor this afternoon and then I will put my feet up. It is a warmer
sunny day and that helps lift the spirits. Thanks for listening! --------Jim, I
hope your spirits pick up soon, try to go do something you really enjoy. Love

Good morning
everyone. Thanks Herb, I'm not giving up. Just had it, that's all. Things have
been progressively getting worse for about 6 months now, and I'm just sick of
everything. Sorry. With you and Sam bringing up polio, I remembered a story I
read on CNN a couple of days ago about people who had polio as a child, and
problems they are all the sudden having in their later years. Below is the
address. Interesting story. Jim

first hand what Polio can do to you. My little brother had it in the '40s when
the big epidemic took place. He never had to be put in the iron lung but it left
him with one leg 3 inches shorter than the other one. And he gets real tired
real easy to this day and he is 57. Herb (Bear)

arm & leg were affected. No muscle. I seem normal now, but tired a lot. So
keep on. All of you. The robins are here..arrived this a.m. & woke me up.

Fara. the stir=fry is
easy to make. Heat one tbs olive oil in a frying pan or wok. Take 1 cup of
shrimp, scallops, or 3-5 oz of chicken breast, cooked and cut up. Quiockly
brown, then add 1 cup of mixed frozen veggies, whatever mixture you prefer! Keep
turning until hot, add a little teriyaki or soy sauce and enjoy! About the arms,
get a five lb. dumbell, lean on a chair, back and upper arm parallel to the
floor, then muve your lower arm up and squeeze at the top. Goal should be 10
repetitions per arm. Old fashioned pushups might work too, but that might not be
the best thing. I hope this helps. CB

I thought that it was clear. I was really down due to my eyesight (20-400 and
20-600) and had pretty well resigned myself to a life in this wheel chair. All
because of diabetes I petty well given up. Then the eye doctor finally completed
all of the laser surgeries and fitted me with new glasses. I am now seeing
20-25. When I was seeing the doctor for the diabetic ulcers on my one remaining
leg he said "Son if you don't use that leg you're going to lose it too.) So I
put the prosthesis back on and started walking. I only got 5 steps the first day
but I got 35 steps today. About that same time an old hunting and fishing buddy
of mine came by and said that he wanted to take me turkey hunting. My initial
response was that I couldn't go. I couldn't walk, I have medications to take, I
have to monitor my BS, etc. etc. etc. But, you know what he would not take no
for an answer. He is determined that what was once an important part of my life
is going to return. You know what, since the word has gotten out that I'm going
turkey hunting I have other friends wanting to take me deer hunting, goose
hunting, crappie fishing, and striped bass fishing. And I feel great, better
than I have in several years. Part of it is knowing that I am going to return to
some things that I used to love and part of it is knowing that I have some real
good friends to whom it makes absolutely no difference that I have diabetes.

WOW!! I
can't get in any where today. It has taken me all day to get in here. I'm
getting a little nervous. I started on the net with a little ISP called
Flashnet. They were great, then they merged with Prodigy and it was all downhill
from there. When we moved back to Mcalester we contracted with SW Bell for our
ISP. It has been super, fast, reliable, etc. etc. But, they have just merged
with another company, guess who???? You got it, Prodigy. I guess we need
something to complain about. JIM - SAM: Hey guys don't even be talking like
that. We all get discouraged, but give up???? Come on guys you two were a major
part of the inspiration that caused me to take a long look at my situation.
Granted I was really down about my eyes and my not being able to walk beyond
very short distances. But you guys with all of your perserverance through all of
your troubles inspired me to try again and harder. Guess what, I'm going turkey
hunting a week from Wednesday. A of mine is going to load me on his 4 wheeler
and take me out in the woods and put me in a blind and then is going to try and
call a big old gobbler in to me. It may not work, but I will have a day in the
woods and the knowledge that I have a "normal" friend cares enough about me to
do this. Before anybody erupts over the "normal" comment let me say this. I like
most of us have had a tendency to relate to my family and to other diabetics for
the most part. But I am learning that to most people there is no stigma to this
disease all we need to do is create some small understanding of what it is and
what it is like. Anyway, guys I said all that to say, HANG IN THERE, IT'S WORTH
IT. Herb (Bear)

Plastic pipe comes in schedule 40, Schedule 80 and 2 different weights of sewer

could use the lightest of the 2 sewer and drain pipe weights available, this is
also the cheapest of all the weights available. Herb (Bear)

OZZY: Good
question, I have often wondered about this. I have more of a problem with lows
than I do highs. SAM: How interesting that you would feel that way. When I think
your situation I think "My, how lucky I am, if my BS ran that high I would lose
my mind." With all the trouble I have had with my eyesight the last 2 years I
would expecially be worried about my eyes. I was discussing pain with my surgeon
one day and his response was that when it came to pain the old, "Is the glass
half full or half empty syndrome applies?" I guess maybe we are just both "half
full" people. JOHN: You can make a set of arm weights very inexpensively and
have the flexibility to add weight as you need it. Go to a plumbing shop and
select 2 short pieces of plastic pipe of the largest diameter that you can
comfortably grasp in your hands. Get them whatever length you wish. Get 2 glue
on pipe caps for one end of each of the 2 pipes and 2 female thread adapters
with 2 screw in plugs for the other ends. Glue a cap and a thread adapter on
opposite ends of the 2 pipes. After the glue dries fill pipes with sand or lead
shot to what ever weight you want and screw the plugs in. Naturally you can get
them a little bit heavier with the shot than you can with the sand. If you have
a friend who is into reloading his shotgun shells he will probably give you the
lead shot. If not, you can buy a 5# bag of it at any gun shop that sells
reloading supplies. You can unscrew the plugs and add weught at any time you
choose. Herb (Bear)
