What's a good blood pressure? and what is concered to low? I haven't been feeling good since I started a new blood pressure pill. I just took it and it was 128/57. I don't know if it's the pills or something else. But I guess with diabetes it's always something else.Z

Some people still come and read to see if they can learn something, they are afraid to post. This shouldn't be a place to make fun of people.

Hmmmm! No posts since yesterday! Thanks to certain posters who brought hate to a site ostensibly started to help people, many no longer bother with this place. Sad!

Caity, any questions you have, please post. IF I can help, I'll do my best. My husband will have a CAT scan monday on his kidneys. I sure hope it's the glucophage that is causing the changes they are seeing on his test results. You all take care this weekend.

Caity: I will try to answer any questions you have. Today is Saturday. BS was 108 this am. Back, legs, arms, chest are either stiff or sore. No gym today. Trained hard this past week, ouch! heh heh. However, I may do some cardio to loosen up a bit.

Remember the good report a posted about my husband, well, yesterday his doctor called him and has ordered a 24 hr. urine collection and he is to get an appointment for a scan on his kidneys. We know he has a cyst on one of his kidneys, but some of his previous results show some possible problems. What, I'm not really sure about, it could be the Glucophage. I'm sure they will find the culprit soon.

Sounds like hyperinsulinism to me! Sometimes this does become diabetes. Generaally speaking, this can be controlled with a high protein, low simple sugar, moderate complex carb diet. The glycemic index can be very helpful here. Grapefruit, brown rice, whole grain pastas, yams, and oatmeal can be useful carb sources. Protein powders are also useful here; some are formulated to go into the system more slowly.

Hi, am looking for any info on insulin. Or in my daughters case, too much insulin. I have just learned that her body is producing too much insulin after eating....does anyone have info on this or know where I can find some? Thanks

Well, my husband, TypeII, saw his doctor the other day and she was amazed at how well he is doing. His A1c went from a 7 to a 5. His cholestrol went from, are you ready for this, 1200 to 220. His BP is also back in the normal range, in fact it is almost getting too low at times. When he bends over sometimes he gets pretty dizzy. After all, he is on a total of 3 different BP meds. She said 4 months ago he was close to being put in the hospital. He has lost over 20 lbs. and staying well within his diet limits. If only I did so well! I say all this to say, It Can Be Done! Now, if only I would follow his example.

Z, your BP may be too low....pills caused same with me, I suspect you are also on "water" pills, thus you need the potassium to prevent cramps in legs and pounding heart....ask your Doc as you may be on too many BP pills...

The disturbing part of it is that it happens very often and it is rarely caught on video. I would rather they concentrated on eliminating it.

More on avoiding lows (from someone with lots of experience with them!) If one is going to be physically active more than normal, try to plan therm the time of day when BS tends to be higher. If on a sliding scale, it is too easy to over compensate for highs. If after dinner, for example, you tend to run higher, go to the Mall or the gym to get it down. Much has been said recently about multiple small meals. This keeps a constant flow of nutrients into the system. Keeping them small will also prevent surges in blood sugar. Also, eating protein with each meal helps even out bs readings. In the middle of the day, a low-carb Pure-pro or Metrx shake is helpful; prevents the low but doesn't send bs through the roof. There are plenty of good products in this category. On the other side, Slim-fast, Glucerna, Ensure etc are junk, nutritionally, they are poor. If lots of fruit is eaten, pick fruits high in fiber. To slow down the effect of fruit juice, there are lots of green powders that will provide plenty of fiber. CAREFUL use of oils can help also. As I posted earlier. balance is the key!

Check out a couple of stories on Yahoo that talk about ways to possibly reduce the chance of experiencing diabetic retinopathy. Some researchers suggest sleeping with lights on -- some suggest bright lights while others say even just a night light is good. The idea is to reduce the stress on the eye trying to focus in a dark room. Here's the link to Yahoo diabetes news: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/fc/Health/Diabetes/

Honey, you ain't seen a hissy fit!!! 07:24:42, yes I saw your post on prednisone and diabetes, but you were right it got lost in all the other garbage on here. It's hard to post anything on here regarding diabetes, because no matter what one posts our 'little minded' friends turn it around to try and put one down. But, I'll try harder in the future!!
