Dear Tom, I do not need medication for any psych illness. I am not
emotional, and I assure you, that asthma and diabetes and vertigo are not
something you can just dismiss as fake. I don't honestly know what your problem
is with me,or anyone else here on this chat. Why do you discriminate,Tom? I must
remind you,Sir,that being a diabetic-anyone can be a diabetic. It doesn't matter
whether one is Jewish,Baptist,Catholic,Muslim,or any type of religion or
Nationality. For goodness sake, drop your racism, and try to honestly hope that
all diabetics find a cure,ok?! Marc Bernstein.

A rant: In time of war, all the
leftist Senate can do is inquire into what Americans eat? None of their

epidemic" is unaddressed. Time for government to get out of this completely!

You may further ask why am I taking Atacand? To protect my kidney function.
And my blood pressure has been high. I just renewed my prescription of
Atacand,(Angiotension 11 AT 1 Receptor Blocker=("Candesartan Cilexetil Tablets")
My druggist gave me the wrong dose of the drug. I'm on 8 mg. He gave me 16 mg.
I'm returning it to him,for proper dose. Singular is (I understand) a fairly old
drug for asthma,I was having alot of asthma at night,so that's why my doctor
prescribed this drug.

does have Lupus. No,I have not mzade this up. I figure you are not really
interested in my family's health, you simply want only to once again, see how much
your response can upset me. You know, honestly,I am a diabetic, and I have further
complications with high blood pressure, plus asthma. If you doubt me,well, what
can I say in response? I just saw my GP:my asthma became so severe last
week-end,he put me on a drug called Singular. It is a powerful asthma drug. I'm
also taking Advair 250 for asthma. I have more than my fair share of diabetic
complications, thanks very much. I deal with it all as well as I can. Thanks for
your questions, but I'm telling you and anyone else on this chat the truth,ok?

Hi Kay, I different oral combos are
not bringing the numbers down. it COULD mean injections are necessary. Keep tabs
with your endo; keep testing too. Wjether you go on shots is solely your
doctor's call. There could be a hidden infection that could be causing the loss
of control. Let us know how it turns out.

I have been on this regimen for 2 months now and fasting bs is around 250-300.
Does this mean insulin is near? I return to endo in June. kay c

Fish
Oil: Omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil significantly lowers triglyceride levels in
patients with diabetes. A meta-analysis from published clinical trials on the
use of fish oil in diabetes concludes that use of fish oil has no adverse
affects on HbA1c in diabetic subjects and lowers triglyceride levels effectively
by almost 30%. This may be accompanied by a slight increase in LDL cholesterol
concentration but overall fish oil may be useful in treating dyslipidemia in
diabetes (Friedberg, 1998). Fish oil, like flax seed, contains omega-3 fatty
acids. However, fish oil appears to have more beneficial lipid control in
diabetes than flax seeds. Flax Seed Oil: Linum ustatissimum Linseed Plasma Lipid
Profile Contain omega-3 fatty acids that may help lower serum triglyceride
levels diabetes, however, fish oil supplements are superior. Caution - May
worsen blood sugar control. However, there are several studies that show Fish
oil to be superior to Linseed oil in lowering serum triglyceride levels
(Kaminskas, 1992; McManus, 1996). Another study also shows that omega 3 fatty
acids from vegetable sources can increase the incidence of Type 2 diabetes
(Meyer, 2001). All omega-3 fatty acids should be used carefully as they can
worsen blood sugar control.

CB- Thanks for the reply. Carbs
aren't really a problem for me as evidenced by my last HbA1c. I started taking
the flaxseed oil capsules about 2 months ago. I believe from everything you've
posted about flaxseed oil plus what I've read from countless other sources, that
the oil will benefit me lots in the big picture against heart disease, but after
2 months my tri levels are even higher. I don't think the oil is contributing to
that one way or another. Due to all the heart damage, any exercise that I do, is
very difficult to sustain, but I am working it in and for as long as I can
safely do it. That will come with time, but I'm very concerned about the rising
tri levels. Jim

Jim: Too many carbs can raise
triglyceride levels. Ask the doc or RD about Metr-x, twinlab products or other
protein powder as source for protein. It will make reduction of animal fats
easier. Ask about flaxseed oil also. Another possibility is asking about
glutamine/amino acid supplementation to prevent body wasting. Again Jim, ASK
before trying any of this. Also ask about beginning resistance training. A good
trainer will be of great help here. Just some ideas you can check with the doc
on.

Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone
can help me with a problem/question. My Triglyceride levels continue to climb
with every bloodtest. Now they are at 614. Two months ago the were 520, and two
months before that they were at 400. Normal is below 200 or 250 depending on
what you read. I presently take 160mg of Tricor, along with 1000mg of prescribed
niacin (which unbelievably hasn't affected my BS). My last HbA1c was 5.1%. Still
recuperating from the heart attack but I get as much exercise as I'm able, which
admittedly isn't a lot. Virtually cut out animal fats, but I don't like many
vegetables. Looking for a new Dr because the one I have now doesn't treat me
with enough aggressiveness, in my opinion. Hypertriglyceridemia is strongly
linked to coronary artery disease, and I definitely don't want another heart
attack. Anyone have any advice? Jim
