Faye & Marc, Thanks for the great post today. It help put me into a better frame of mind tonight. I spent the day at the hospital with my Aunt. It is difficult to see my Uncle so bad and I can do nothing.-----------Marc. I also walk into a lot of things. With vision gone in my right eye and all the laser done to my left it is difficult to go and do a lot of things. The laser has norrowed the field of vision so things that are below the waste and far to sides I walk right into. My legs always have marks on them. The dishwasher door always seem to be down and there I go finding it with my leg! Quch! People scare me by walking up tp me on my blind side and start speaking to me, I jump a mile. I must go to movie threaters early when the lights are still on to get a seat and hope I do not need to use the restroom until the movie is done. It takes my eye a few minutes to adjust before I can leave the theater. My husband is a great help and always by my side. My trips to the hospital have taken a toll on the D. I have had three lows in the past week and must adjust my schedule. I am going to make a new one for schedule B. Lucky I tested today before driving my car, I was at 49 and had no low feeling. That could have been bad. Hope everyone is well here on the chat, I have not had time to read the last few days. Take care, Love & Luck, Misty

Marc W, I am going to do just that, give myself a printout. You should print it out also and look at it when things are not going so well. You are right about me. I never in a million years would have thought that I would feel the way I do today. You WILL feel that way at some point in your life. I guess it took another brush with death to make me "see the light" as the saying goes. It has been a long hard fight, but for right now I have mastered it. I have excepted the pain that I have had every day for 30 years and I know will not go away, the blurry eyes, the CHF, the way the kids live their lives, etc. You have always been there for me, and you will never know how very much you have helped me. That is what this board is all about. Helping each other with words of encouragement, friendship and yes, love for one another, even though we have never met in person. I feel like you are one of my children and I will always be here for you. You and Julie go out and start having fun, enjoying the things that you like. When you go see AC/AD even if you won't be able to see them good, you will be able to in your mind, see the drummer and know how hard he is working to make the beat!!!! Believe it or not but I listen to their music, once in a while, for a change of pace!!!!

Hey Faye... do me a favor, print that last post out for yourself. So when you get into a funk, you could look back on this day and know you typed your on top of the world, to remind yourself you made it back here. There was a time that I believed you may never sound that way, so it is really great to see.Jim, impending doom? Man you have no idea how much sense that makes. I got some of that myself at the moment. Actually I am seeing ACDC in 3 weeks and taking Julie to see Matchbox 20 this Friday. She is more into that band then me but I hear they put up a real good show. And for our friend who will ask what does acdc have to do with diabetes, Julie and I talked about getting out more. Doing the things we used to do before IT (retinopathy) hit. I have been almost in lock down since, can't go to dark places, can't do this, can't do that. Well BS, I just have to work within my limitations that's all.I guess I find getting on with life hard, maybe a little scary. My home is my saftely , I walk into walls and trip on things because I don't see them or missjudge their distances, so I don't venture out often. Even golf I won't go anymore without a spotter, I won't just walk on alone. And yes, I have "activity" in the other eye, and yes, it scares the hell out of me and yes, I feel impending doom. I guess I had that on my mind or I wouldn't have typed it, so thanks Jim for sharing and opening the door to that also......Marc W

Good morning to everyone. The sun is shining, the 10 feet of snow is melting slowly, and it is cold this morning, only 12 above. I am feeling great and am losing weight on the WW Food Plan . Have more energy since I had all those blood transfusens. Am using the treadmill which I haven't been able to do for months. Don't get short of breath , only the hip bothers now. That isn't stopping me though. I go until it really bothers and then stop. Each day I add a minute to the time. Have decreased my insulin to just NPH and that is from 40 units twice a day to 32 units. No more regular or Humolog.Have a great day, I am going to. Am going out to breakfast with my daughter Mary. Blood Sugars have been just great. So, as of right now I am on top of the world!!!!!!!

I started taking insulin about six weeks ago. Prior to that time I changed my eating habits and began exercising daily on the treadmill (up to 30 minutes now). I was losing weight and feeling good about my progress. Although I am still motivated because I feel better, am more energetic and my blood pressure has lowered considerable -- I haven't lost a pound since I started the insulin. I will continue food control and exercise because I'm committed to the healthier ways, but I'm discouraged because I'm no longer losing weight. I have about 75 pounds to lose and I know the loss of that extra weight would do wonders for my diabetes, but I feel like I have my hands tied. I'm not exactly sure why insulin prevents weight loss. If someone could answer that question, I would appreciate it. Also, does anyone know of something I can do to get back on the weight loss track? My sugar levels have been running 'in range' prior to meals. I'm scheduled for my A1C in about 3 weeks. Hopefully it will be closer to normal and maybe I can stop the insulin soon. I'm also on glucophage.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Had a good one. Stretching it out til next weekend, got a big concert to go to. Sam... I know from speaking to you that you have chronic pain, are you under any management for that? The reason why I ask is that I have a ripped up shoulder again, and my Dr takes an agressive approach with meds. He would rather have me not feeling pain as there is a direct correlation between pain and high sugars as you just posted. The med I take is Oxycontin, it is the same one I keep hearing about that it is the lastest high addictive drug. The key is to not break it up because it is time released and the drug addicts are breaking it up to get the drug all at once. I take a low dose at bedtime and I am able to sleep through the pain without horrible spikes. To me there is nothing worse then hurting like an SOB and having the high sugars to boot. I hope you get that pain under control. I take several other pain meds, you can e-mail me if you want to know the whole program I am on. I got an e-mail from SCOTT, he said he can read here but his comp isn't letting him post. So he will be back soon and joining in our pump conversations. When he comes back, lets be nice to him. I mean he has enough to deal with already being an EAGLES fan and all.......Marc
