LOL My husband has already used up the test strips he was given and tried to get the RX renewed and they wouldn't, it was too soon. When he called his doc, she laughed and asked him how often he was testing. He was testing anywhere from 6-7 times a day. She thanked him for being so diligent, but he didn't need to test that often. But, he is taking this disease seriously and I'm thankful he is. A coach my son works with has NEVER taken care of himself, and is now facing losing both of his feet. His doctors told him is is dying. It's so sad!! I had an uncle that was the same way. He died when he was 45 w/major heart attack. It was his 3rd. He never took care of his diabetes. There is a lesson here for all of us!

I find it works fine for me. If my fingers get too tough or painful from repeated injects,I switch to my right hand. Had noticed that blood glocuse sugars can have variations with different fingers. I like to use alcolhol pads. Makes it easier. By the way,tring to do it on train/plane-can be something of a co-ordination problem. You will end up getting the reading "Error"on the meter alot. The tips of fingers most painful. I'm now(under doctor's supervision) taking extra Avandia,in afternoon/evening,to lower blood sugars. Found it works. The shock for my sister and family isn't over. She was told by our family specialist,she was very lucky,another day,the arm would have to been amputated. She will have to taking the extreme drug therapy for more than 2 months. We're jus hoping it won't spread to her lungs or heart. As for her being obese,it looks like the fact that my sister had been hormones for a couple of years,(under my uncle,a GP,and OBN,(Semi-retired) we hope my sister will lose weight,stop taking hormones,look after herself. She has been working much too hard;she never gets enough sleep. We're still not sure whether she has Lupus,or something unknown. (not even her doctor's seem certain.) I have not been sleeping myself for days. Going to sign off now.

Marc even though I hesitate to say it on here, Beth is dying. There is no cure for her disease and she gets progressively weaker all the time. With Jodi and my oldest daughter being nurses we have listened closely to what the doctors are saying and coupled that with the time we spent with the grand son we lost to the same disease we feel that we have 2-3 months left with her. She will be in and out of the hospital many times during that time until her last stay. And now our youngest daughter has been diagnosed with the same disease. It is a hereditary/genetic disease that runs in families. Our oldest daughter is being tested for it but we have no results yet. Thanks for your interest. Herb (Bear)
