8:46:34, My husband went back in this morning for repeat blood work. The doctor
gave him Lipitar (sp?) also to start taking twice a day. I said earlier he was
on Zestril, I meant Zocor. I tested his BG last night two hours after supper and
it was 211. All of this on top of my Mother's death and I come here and see how
stupid people can be. I really don't know why I keep coming here. Maybe my
German stubborness will not let the idiots run me away. Thanks again to you that
are so caring.

or what. Maybe now he will get busy and get the extra weight off. When he was on
Baycol he was doing fine, but when they took it off the market he was put on
Zestril and obviously it is not working. I wonder what else is going to come and
knock on our door!

things to fat. Before I forget, a product called Vegenaise is a non dairy mayo

somewhat higher in omega 3 than fish oil. Most are clearly labeled. Use of the
oil is advocated by some cardiologists. If it improves cholesterol levels,
great! If you decide to try it, use it as a fat exchange, instead of margarine,
mayo, etc. The calorie intake will not be affected. I fat exchange is 5gm fat
and 45 calories. Some brands contain lignon, a fiber. The vast majority of
people can take this with no problem. Ask your CDE; I hardly think she would
have a problem with it. For cooking, try cold pressed organic olive oil. Adds
great flavor. Garlic too is a healthy flavoring. I seem to remember something
good about red onions, but cannot remember. There is nothing dangerous in
picking foods with an eye to nutrients. This means for MOST diabetics, there is
no need to avoid red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, kale, carrots, spinach,
brocolli, cauliflower, tomatoes, yams, cantelope, watermelon, honeydew, and
citrus fruits. For most, pineapple, papaya, and mango are fine too. BTW, If all
the preceding are avoided, there is a real risk of vitamin deficiency! Take
care.
