To everyone on here, hope you all, yes, even you Tom, have a very joyous and healthy holiday and a Happy New Year.

If you can get fresh peanut butter made in the store, you are better off, since many commercial butters have added salt or sugars. Also, consider raw peanut butter. The fat in it is unexposed to heat, so it is a little better.

Mary: 2 tbs peanut butter is one (incomplete) protein and 2 fats. All vegetable proteins lack one or more of essential amino acids. I would discuss this w/ your CDE. To 22:59:20, I spoke correctly, no attacks are necessary.

CB, How do you count peanut butter on diabetes exchanges. The RD at the hospital told me to count 2 tablespoons as 1 protein but then the diabetes books I read say to count as 1 protein and 2 fats so that is the way I count it. Also is it better to buy the reduced fat peanut butter or the plain? I have been thinking it is better to get the plain. Marc B.-----------------You need to get back on the board. I still don't know what the AP stands for. I thought you would tell me. Mary

Mary, I have a different understanding of health than the std RD and CDE. I believe fat should be about 15% calories. Protein should be a little higher than usually recommended, unless ESRD is present. The food pyramid? Unbalanced. Because I believe muscle mass is lost on the diabetic diet and fat TENDS to increase, I was accused of calling diabetics "fat cows".

Finale note:in case what I said below might just be misanterpreted by the APs here,I thought I'd slightly correct the past statements:Re:Diabetes: First,to most sane people and those diabetics who know that this disease can be a real bother, for none of us are going to ever get 100 per cent complete control over it. Viral infections, stress(such as seen/read here,by APs) is sure to raise blood glucose sugars. No one is so thick skined that they can indefinately ignore APs. Not without it causing their diabetes to become more of a problem. What I meant to say:re:my statement about not one iota of us::we all are diabetics. Whether we take insulin, diabetic oral drugs,on the pump,we all have to with how this condition /disease is going to affect us all. There is no cure yet. Sure, lots of medical advances, but still lots of side effects with some newer oral drugs. and I have not met any diabetic who doesn't once in a while break his or her tight self control. Sure,we(and I) lead good enjoyable creative busy lives. But the finger pricks, the visits to doctors, blood taken each month,(or how often it may be) it is painful and if you have weak veins in your arm,you have to hope you get a good tech when you get the blood taken. Hey! we're all better of than those diabetics prior to Banting's /Best's discovery (London,Ontario,1921) of insulin.

CB,I agree with you 100 per cent. These rotten, sick, warped, insane and really obnoxious attacks don't help anyone esp diabetics. You are welcome to exchange e-mails with me. I thought we are all diabetics,no matter whether we are type 1,or type 2,it does not make one iota of difference (to me) how we control the disease. I learned long ago, from attending some valued diabetic classes/forums in Toronto(Sponsored by Canadian Diabetes Association,American Diabetes Association,Mount Sinai Hospital Of Toronto,or Woman's College Hospital(Toronto-World renowned) I was part of a great diabetes programe:"Tridec". They (nurses, doctors, diabetic health care/food specialists) taught we are all diabetics, and this rather infernal disease doesn't discriminate. ONLY THE APS DO!!!!

Jodi and I are home again. She is absolutely worn to a frazzle. Our 5 days at the cabin was absolutely wonderful. We caught and ate some fresh fish. The cabin has absolutely everything for the handicapped and is amazingly beautiful. They certainly did their homework when they built it. The shower was so large that I could run my wheelchair right into it. (Not wise with my electric chair) All the cabinets are built open so you can run a wheelchair right up under them to get to a sink. It has its own wheelchair accesible fishing dock. And it is at the end of a dead end road with a gate if you want absolute privacy. We left the cabin last Thursday at noon and went to OKC to be with Beth and go to Katie's (Our grand daughter) school Christmas play. She played the part of a grand mother complete with blue hair and rolled down stockings. Jodi really enjoyed her portrayal of a grand mother. While at the cabin we went in to Muskogee Wednesday evening to see the lights at Honor Heights Park. We have never seen such a display. They even had a huge American flag that waved made with lights. But alas, all of our rest was for nought. After spending the rest of the week until today in OKC with Beth Jodi is absoulutely worn to a nubbin. We have a tree up and a few decorations around but she says that she is just to tired to do Christmas this year. All of our kids have always come to us for Christmas. She says that with her being as tired as she is and with Beth and Rick not able to come it just isn't worth it. Beth's condition prevents her having a crowd at her house. Kevin and Denny's house is just to small for a crowd the size of ours and I can't get in their house with the chair. The Albuquerque kids are coming some time during the holidays to our house. Right now Jodi is just sitting and bemoaning that she has so much to do and no time to do it in. I want to help her but I am so limited to what I can do that I cause her more work than I help with. Blood sugars have come down some, running 120 to 140 with no changes in diet or exercise, just the time at the lake. Just as soon as I can get caught up on the back posts I will write most of you specificly. Jodi tried a sugar free pecan pie recipe at the lake that sure was good. First pecan pie I have had for years. I will provide the recipe if anyone is interested. Y'all be good and maintain control. Herb (Bear)

He was in Toronto during film festival. I gave him my resume,we spoke about my flying down to NY for interview with De Niro. Nothing happened at the time due to some diabetic problems, but it is worth my keeping my options open." Puuuuleez! Get over yourself Marc! Your illustrious Famous Players employs nearly 7,500 people - what makes you think you are so very important to them? It's a freaking multi-plex cinema! They're all over the place! Marc: You are always complaining about something being wrong. Last week it was your prostate, this week your eyes, next week -- well who knows what will be wrong with you then. Your constant whining about everything that goes wrong with you is boring, tiresome and loathsome. Find something else to write about here. You whine, moan and complain then when someone pokes fun, you get all offended. Then you threaten to leave "forever" only to come back (like a bad toothache) to whine, moan and complain some more. Hey, a 3-month holiday from all that would do everyone here some good. Think about it.

Can't get a relief projectionist, did not expect that he would be free on short notice. You think this is some fantasy of mine? How wrong you are! I have been getting migraines (part of diabetes) for a few months, nothing like this..Can't see my eye doctor today,he is not in Tuesday, have to see about Wednesday. My regular GP going away Wednesday for three month holiday. this being a busy season with new film releases,I just have to do the best I can. No,I'm not unhappy, just worried,my job depends upon my diabetes not getting worse. It doesn't matter to me how you see or interpret anything I say,or my worries about my diabetes or my eyes. Since you not only don't know me,judge me harshly without signing your real name,I shouldn't really pay attention to you.
