Have to get used to this board being back in business. It's like a long lost family member coming home. Hello Bambie, long time no see. I bet you suffer under the pain that your sister causes to herself. Hope she now will see the light. Still at the hospital???? Hello Gordo, like the old days right?? And Jeannette take Gordo up on his offer to help you. He is the best nutrition person we have. Yes papaya juice can help, my wife Johanna benefits from it when she has a migraine headache. Hello Marc B. Hello Marc, good to see you back on here. Won't be long before it is known that the board is back in business. Hope you can stay around and don't be too much away for your work. JOHN V.

Hey Bambi! Great to hear from you again! Sorry to hear about your sister. Hope it isn't tooo late for her. Jim - glad to see you here too! Have missed a lot of you guys! My "D" is doing pretty good. Can't say the say for me. As I said in my last post, my A1C is 7.9. Doctor was ok with that, but I can do better. Everything else was fine. But with some stress issues and personal things he put me on Zoloft. Only a half a tablet a day for now. We'll see how that goes! For you pumpers, back in Nov. I had a leaking problem with my pump at the quick release and didn't know it, till it was too late. Here I was trying to pump the insulin in and not understanding why my BG's were not going down. Duh! I finally check the tubing and find the loose connection, and into the hospital I went. No Fun! But, all in all it was good. The checked me out from head to toe. And I'm doing great! Good to see this site back up!

I just tested myself:blood sugar now (non-fasting) is at 12.6. Yes,it is still high. I'm trying to get it down. I changed the setting on my meter-to 2. The nurse today told me the newer kit(Fast Touch) is now available here. I've ordered one. I am trying to now test three times a day. It does take a while to get used to the pen-I'm right handed.

Just wondering about my diabetic friends from the past. John V told me he had posted here so thought I would check it out. Hi,Y'all. Gordo I guess that I should have read before writing. My usual shortcoming-sorry. Bambi, You have further emphasized what rejection of diabetic diagnosis can result in a person. This testimony about your loved ones is much more forceful than all of our preaching to the rejectors. Jim, I have found that eating at many Chinese restaurants while traveling permits me to better maintain my BG's as I can get the green and yellow veggies and good salads plus some lean meats. I just steer clear of the deep fried and coated foods. I also carry along a good supply of Biozone Complete nutrition bars (200 calories per bar). You must remember that I am type 2 with no medications, so my reactions to foods are probably different than yours and others on the board. You can check out these bars through www.envion.com. I have found them convenient for my purposes of traveling where eating can be difficult. (30%protein, 40 % carbohydrates, and 30% balanced fats)Specific details on their website. The cold weather and ice have raised hob with my desire to exercise however I am maintaining my weight and BG control. Jeanette, If I can help with any of your type 2 questions, fell free to e-mail me. All others, since I am back to working nearly full time again, I may not post as much this time around. I do try to answer e-mail questions as I read it everyday. It will also be a welcome relief for some to have me not as verbose as before. Gordo

Haven't taken new reading of sugar yet today. My meter seems to be in need of cleaning. I think I accidently spilled something on it earlier this week. I discovered that one of the problems:the reasson for possible error on the machine-I may be getting too little blood from my finger. I'll try to use another finger-been using same one daily. I use the side of my fingers. It hurts less. Bambi, nice to have heard from you. John V,how are you?

Hi to all! So glad to see the board back. I really missed everyone. Knock on wood, my D has been very good and my A1C has been 6.0 for 9 months. My doctor said what ever I am doing keep it up! I really owe it all to the pump. After 39 years I have never had this kind of control. My last appointments with kidney transplant team and heart doctor were all so positive. I can not get use to not receiving bad news. I also know tomorrow it all can change but I will enjoy this ride as much as possible! Love & Luck, Misty

Hi Everyone! I missed you guys! It's good to see the board back up. I didn't realize until it was gone how much it kept me focused on control. How's everything? My year sucks so far, from a diabetes point of view regarding my family. My sister (you know, the one who has been in diabetes denial for years) developed horrible head-to-toe (mostly toe) neuropathy and is on 8 Neurontin pills per day. She couldn't deny it any more when she passed out at work and had a >900 blood sugar reading. My Dad (type 2) was in the hosp from 1/15/01 until last Saturday with complications of diabetes and congestive heart failure. My Mom (type 1)had 3 stents placed last Wednesday to fix three previously bypassed arteries in her heart. Both of them are home now from the hospital. Marc B, I was on 5 days of IV antibiotics last summer, and it took a long time to get back into control. Still struggling with it, to be truthful. I hope you get control soon and start to feel better!

Kidney test coming up...and wondering about the results. Heavier lifting and 1 gm protein/lb bodyweight...I wonder! "Normal" figures are figured out on the basis of the average sedentary, non lifting populace. I still find it true that bodybuilding with diabetes puts one on the wrong page!

Hi there everyone. It is nice to be back. I am recovering from an abcess(Celulitus infection) I had it lanced, and drained. It is healing ok. I just returned to work after 10 days of absence. I am testing blood sugars daily. I am using a Lancet-Pen Device. It is adjustable for super-sensitive skin.(mine) I owe so much to a wonderful nurse(a diabetic) who has been treating my wound. She advised me to get the pen. for the first time,I no longer have a phobia about doing this. I take the bs from my side of my fingers-(less nerves there) my readings:including fasting:(Friday):6.7. It had(because of my illness) been high. Today:(morning):13.1.(non fasting, after breakfast. I know, still high. Will try again tonight.

Wonder where you went to and missed you on the other boards Jim, hello Herb...hello all other old customers from the past board. Hope we will all have a peaceful time on here. After 14 weeks of fighting an ulcer on my ankle, the improvements stopped and I got worried about that. Then I heard on the net about teatree oil sold in healthfood stores (about $ 7. per 15 ml.) called a mild antiseptic. I tried carefully a drop of it to see how it would react and it did no harm. Went on to put one drop on the ulcer 4x per day for 2 days now and it seems to improve very well. It was carried in the 2nd worldwar by every soldier from Australia as a preventive and firstaid thing against infection. So far very happy, makes me wonder how it is possible that doctors don't know about it or don't pass it on to their patients. JOHN V.
