It is sad. There's always some one
around the corner with one scam or another.I'm scared every other day. I'd give
anything not to be a diabetic but reality is once a diabetic ALWAYS a diabetic.
There is no magic out there. Steve B should be ashamed of him self but he's not.
He's just trying to make a buck.

Take a moment and
re-read Steven B's post. If anyone truly believes there is a pill or supplement
that essentially cures diabetes ("now has no symptoms of diabetes and is off
insulin"), then I have some oceanfront property in Kansas for sale... cheap! Our
new "friend" is just someone trying to sell pills and supplements, which at best
might improve one's diet, but at worst can cause problems for diabetics. People
who tout products here that claim amazing results for diabetics ("no symptoms"
or "unable to walk... walked for the first time in months") are nothing more
than scam artists preying on the gullible. My suggestion: avoid them like the
plague.

They have Lantus which is a long acting
insulin, I think it works better than the N. I was on N for 20 years and then
switched to lantus, I like it alot better. I test alot but I use the one touch
ultra, testing is the only way to know how you are doing. I think you should
find a dr that you like and see them I know it's hard when you don't have
insureance but you need to get checked out once a year at least.

Hi, Anyone out there? I've been on
line for 3 hours now, trying to learn something that will help get my sugars
down.I've been to all the links. It seems they just want to sell me something or
sign me up on a list. I'm a type 2 on insulin 3 years.Due to lack of insurance I
haven't seen a Dr. in 2 years. when I did see him regularly he was so
condescending. To him, because I was over weight I was way to stupid to
understand, let alone manage my diabetes.Any way that's a long story. I just
purchased the new 1 Touch Ultra Smart monitor. This is the first time I've heard
of pattern management. Question is, does it work or is this just another way to
get my money. They say to test 8x a day. I now test 2 maybe 3 x a day. I do a
15R/35N am/pm & a sliding scale.

definitely see a doc. I don't know if there are drugs for it but you'd probably
need a prescription for them anyway.

Petroleum jelly IS greasy, but it
helps your heels. It stops your feet from losing moisture. Remember the socks,
too. White. Buy a pack. Not too tight in the ankles! Don't ever impede your
circulation. Sand & rub your heels...wear the socks at night. It works.

Take care of your feet. They are

socks at night. First file off all the callus (not too deep!) then use that..for
me, it works.

God, I feel sorry for you people
who have gained weight! Now I have too! My right leg's been acting up, I can't
walk like I always did, and through this Winter have not been as active as I
usually am. I've gained 15 pounds! I'm a type one, on the pump, I heard insulin
makes you gain weight, but never believed it. I do believe it now. For insurance
reasons, I have not been to my Doc. I fear the donut hole with Insurance! It's
scary! I am watching the State of Union address tonight, and hoping my insurance
won't be affected. It's a real fear.

No advice, but lots of sympathy. I've
been dealing with night sweats for a few years. They're pretty draining as they
are, but the exhaustion the next day (from being awake at night) is also a pain.
It keeps me from exercising or being active, which has made me gain weight,
which pushes my sugars up.

Attention diabetic women: I need some
help. I'm 51 and entering per-menopause. I'm just starting with not sleeping
very well and having night sweats. If I get up in the mid of the night my blood
sugars are all over the place. I'm talking anywhere from 90 to 449. When I'm
sweating like that I think I might be in low sugar I can't tell the difference.
I'm worried what it will be like when I hit full blown menopause. I've read alot
on it, but it doesn't apply to diabetic women who have so many other issues. If
someone has any advice please let me know. Sorry guy's to bring up this subject
but it's a very important one to us women.

I used to weigh 150 pounds my whole
life, until I became diabetic. Put on a couple of pounds a year and can't take
them off and over the years it adds up. I'm now 260. And like you said it's
harder to control the blood sugars and the blood pressure, the sore feet. It's
tough.

It's aggravating... I eat what I've

One thing I find very important to my
care, is to eat small amounts and more often. I have alot of stomach problems
and if I eat to much, I feel like I'm going to blow up. Like you said, find what
works for you and do it.
On Sat Jan 20 19:31:33 2007 Sam () said:
Yes, I agree. Type 1's HAVE to
control everything. Type 2's are sometimes less enthusiastic about control. They
make insulin. But...if they are overweight, they are inclined to gain more. They
have isulin resistance. It all takes time. But they are usually the ones that
lose fingers, toes, eyes and kidneys. Control IS the key! If you need to check
your sugar, do it! Find what works for YOU and do it. We are all different. I am
no M.D. but I have studied diabetes for 15 years, and my Mom died from
complications of type 2 diabetes. And I see what my Brother is going through. He
takes insulin now. But he is a type 2. He gained weight. Don't gain weight!
Count your carbs, that will help a lot. That's all that people like me (I'm a
one) count. Well..be aware of your fat intake, and choose good fats. Nothing
Hydrogenated, go for pure oils. Believe it or not, butter is better for you than
margarine. My own opinion. I make clarified butter. Look it up, it's a treasure.

I INJECT EVERY TWO HOURS
LIFT WEIGHTS TOO AND KEEP THINGS UNDER CONTROL QUITE WELL. NOW WHEN I LIFT
WEIGHTS I AM NOT WORKING Hard enough unless I AM GRUNTING AND MY LEG MUSCLES GET
THAT BURING SENSATION. I STRIVE TO GET STRONGER AND BUILD BODY MASS. I WANT TO
BE THE CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF A DIABETIC. I SLEEP FOUR HOURS PER NIGHT AND INJECT
AGAIN AT 2 A M. WORKS FOR ME. OF COURSE DOCTORS WILL TELL YOU THAT 8 HOURS OF
SLEEP IS NECESSARY. BUT IF I GET 8 HOURS I CAN HARDLY MOVE DUE TO ARTHRITIS.
WHEN I SLEPT IN SATURDAY, MY DAUGHTER SAID ARE YOU ALL RIGHT. FOR 30 MINUTES I
COULD HARDLY MOVE. I SLEPT TOO LONG. I DON'T SEEM TO NEED SLEEP REALLY BEYOND
THE 4 HOURS. THE REGIMEN WORKS. CHECKING GLUCOSE OFTEN AND EATING ABOUT THE SAME
THINGS EACH DAY BECOMES PREDICTABLE. I JUST CHECKED MY GLUCOSE AND IT IS 76.
HOLIDAYS TEND TO BE MORE CHALLENGING, DESPITE I AM A DIABETIC, I STILL LOVE
CHOCOLATE. BUT CHRISTMAS ONLY COMES ONCE A YEAR. I STRIVE TO STAY HEALTHY AT A
COSTS, INCLUDING An injection every TWO HOURS. ALTHOUGH OTHERS TELL ME THAT THEY
ARE NOT WILLING TO DO THIS, I AM. DOCTORS TELL THEIR PATIENTS TO DO WHAT IS
NECESSARY. THIS IS NECESSARY FOR ME AND I AM NOT INTERESTED IN DYING JUST YET.
IF I HAD TO INJECT EVERY 15 MINUTES, I WOULD. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ME AND SOME
OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, I AM WILLING TO DO WHAT EVER IS NECESSARY.
