It IS going to get worse if the
"national sales tax" is passed. Bush, Tom DeLay & Hastert want it.
Basically, no more Federal tax BUT...23% on EVERYTHING, and that means health
care & any other services! Look up the term...you will see. I saw it on WCCO
T.V. last night, out of Mpls, Mn.

Hi. It's me, Casey. I was talking about
my $700 blood work bill. Well, I don't know if anyone has a health spending
account, but they're also a pain in the butt. After you go through the work of
getting your insurance to pay, THEN you have to send copies of everything
(bills, payments, insurance claims) to the people who run the health spending
account to beg for reimbursement. It's funny because it's my money that I have
put away for medical bills but it has to be approved. I remember George Bush
talking about health savings accounts and if they are anything like this, it's
just one more layer of bureaucracy. Sigh.

I've learned that, you have to get
people's names and write them down. Because one person will want to know who you
talked to, and if you say "I don't know" they will say that they can't help you
then. Always get names.

In health care these days...the right
hand does not know what the left is doing. Or care. No responsibility! Get
names, and follow them back down...keep a notepad what they said.

I had blood work done recently. The
bill - just from the lab - was $700. It was billed to me. I ended up calling my
doctor, the lab, my insurance company, and the company that handles the lab's
accounting. Everyone said I had to call one of the others. Some of this bill
should be covered by my insurance, but getting them to pay for it is becoming a
nightmare. (Who knows if universal health care would improve this, but if it's
all run by the same group, it might.)

I sure believe in Universal Health
Care...but it takes money. Our Administration uses more & more $ for
overseas! Building things that just get blasted apart again, by the terrorists.
It's stupid! Some states are beginning their own health care systems, according
to income, which is fair. I watch C-Span a lot, and sometimes get hope. Health
care is one of the top 3 considerations laid out by the House & Senate. Keep
writing, there are a lot of good minds here. Imput by all, helps us all.

Another problem with health care is
that alot of employers are only hiring part time workers and they that way they
don't have to give out any benifits. Also if you do work full time the cost of
insurance has gone up so much that you can't afford it. They do need to get a
program going. As a diabetic the only way I can have coverage is through work, I
haven't worked for three years now, so I depend on my husbands insurance through
work. What happenes to me when he can no longer work, then I won't have any
insurance. I know several people that don't have any insurance and they can't
afford there meds. And we are people in are 50's. I can imagine how much worse
the problem is going to get as we get older.

I would love for the chance to see some
high-end specialist. I live in a romate area and we have no diabetic dr's around
here. You have to go to a internal specialist and they aren't that good. If you
don't like what your dr is doing or not doing for you go to another, well,
that's hard to do when you are so limited in the first place. I would gladly pay
the money to see a good dr. And I don't have the money, but I would find it
somewhere. We can't afford health care programs because all are money is tired
up in wars and helping foreign countries. They don't care that we have homeless
and sick people here that can't make ends meet, but let us go help all the other
people all over the world.

I don't understand why the
wealthiest country on the planet can't provide even the most basic healthcare to
all its citizens. If you want to see a high-end specialist you can pay more for
it. But for things like taking your child for a checkup on his ear infection or
getting a flu shot, especially for the 40 million without health insurance, I
believe there should be some universal coverage.

pay for more health ins. coverage, I will lose my house, as I live close to the
bone. And Medicare is going up next year, also the cost of Ins. And insulin!
Also pump supplies! I wear an insulin pump, got IDDM at: 50! My options look
grim. I keep on. Peace, Sam.

that U.S. healthcare
isn't free, but then again, there's not much in this country that is free. I pay
fairly hefty premiums for healthcare insurance, plus copays for every
prescription I get plus every office visit or hospital stay. I am willing to pay
it because I believe we get the best healthcare in the world. Would I prefer to
pay less? Certainly, but if I want the best I should be prepared to pay for it.
As for Canada, you might want to do some research before deciding to move. I'd
suggest some light reading:

one every month. I believe the FDA, and the Government are in cahoots, and they
have us broke people cornered, with what their rules/costs are. Ever need tier 2
& 3 drugs? Not affordable! As of Jan, insulin may be tier 2. I pay $88.00
medicare, $149.00 Medica, a month,and Co-pays too. Say something nice (a name?)
as it's Friday. The car is leaking away in my garage, as there was no room at
the car repair place. Makes it scary for Monday. Do you have these worries?
Well, I have a garage sale bike to use. Have a great weekend, fellow diabetics.

No one is passing judgment,
except maybe you in the giant leap to conclusions. There is so much whining
about healthcare costs, but I don't see anyone asking companies to stop the
research and development of new drugs or even cures for diseases. Do you think
these companies should operate as charities? BTW, what does your 10 yr old leaky
car have to do with Medicare Part D? You pay, I pay, we all pay for healthcare.
Like with anything in life, you get what you pay for. It's "funny" that you
whine about your old car and limited income and high healthcare costs, but you
certainly don't seem to be strapped for cash to take a nice trip to Canada.
Things that make you go hmmm...

you live at the top of the heap of humanity, or are an M.D. so costs don't

me very broke! They keep increasing! And yes, I am going up to Canada this month
to check it out! P.S. My car is ten years old too! It's leaking something right
now. Medicare part "D" doesn't help much. I pay, pay pay!!!! Put yourself in my
shoes before you judge.
On Thu Sep 7 16:07:55 2006 Healthcare Costs... () said:
are every American's
responsibility. We are paying more for healthcare today because we DEMAND more.
We want the latest and greatest healthcare NOW, but at the same time we don't
want to pay the cost for those demands. It's like wanting to drive a brand new
car every month, but paying a used car price. While everyone complains about the
cost of healthcare, stop and think that this is simple economics: supply and
demand. If you want the best, you have to be prepared to pay for it. Otherwise,
if you prefer to settle for second-best, you can always move to Canada.

Linda...I too have
"Medica". I just called and got the insulin I wear in my pump (Humalog)approved
til the end of the year. An override. Otherwise, $30.00/month. At the beginning
of next year I'm afraid that will go up, like all Ins. costs. I can't do it! I
may move to Manitoba, CA.. Pay less for things, and get health coverage I can
afford. It's nice up there. These "tier" schemes are bothering me! Seems if
enough people need/want the drug, it goes to the next tier! The Dr. doesn't
care. He won't listen. Just something I found out, write if you like.

Retina Specialist who did some laser surgery to stop some of the other veins
from bleeding and will be going back to see him on the 11th of this month. I
must have a million questions about this and I would like to chat with someone
about it. It is very frightening to have had this happen because I can barely
see out of that eye. I can only imagine what it would be like to have it happen
to the other eye too. Please reply.
