Does anyone here take flaxseed caps 1000 mg x 2? I don't know anything about it and need to look it up, just wondering if anyone else takes it. Dr. said I should take it for crhonic dry eyes and would see a difference in two months.

Nope, they are 4 pound chihuahuas. I love them they are the best pets. They love to sleep. So if you don't feel good, they will watch over you and sleep with you. Several times they have woke me up in the middle of the night and my blood sugar was low.I don't know if they senced that or what, but they have saved me a few times.

My kids are all grown and out of the house. I don't miss that mad shopping rush, trying to get school clothes and supplies. And they can't just get any note book, it always had to be pretty or cool in some way. I do miss the kids bringing there friends home after school and all the chatter and fun. The chili before football games and all the fun stuff. Now I have an empty nest and filled it with two little dogs whom I spoil rotten. If you still have kids at home make sure you enjoy them, because they grow up to fast and then they are gone. And things are just never the same again.

I take several medications and made sure to ask my doctor about take cinnamon capsules before I started. I take Lotrel for high blood pressure and it had no noticable impact on that. During my annual physical last week, my blood pressure was slightly up (137/74), but then I was a little aggravated at having to wait for nearly an hour after my appt. time. I do have to monitor my blood sugar closely because I tend to "go low" around noon. Overall, my readings are trending lower now and my cholesterol numbers are much better than ever.

does cinnamon interfer with other drugs, like high blood pressure pills and stuff like that?

After talking with my doctor, I began taking cinnamon capsules (500 mg. -- 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening) almost 2 months ago. In April my HbA1C was 7.1 (U.S.). Now it is down to 6.3. Also, my total cholesterol dropped to 177 and finally my bad cholesterol is finally down within the acceptable range.

My doc gave me the go ahead on St. John's Wort. He didn't know anything about cinnamon though. Has anyone tried any other natural remedies?

On Mon Aug 14 07:59:15 2006 () said:
The best plan of action is to talk to your doctor BEFORE you add any natural "remedies" to your daily diet. Your doctor should know everything you take and can advise you on potential interactions. I'd also suggest talking with your pharmacist.

On Fri Aug 11 16:12:55 2006 () said:
That is what scares me about taking alot of the natural stuff. You really don't know for sure what you are taking and if there will be interactions between it and your other drugs. They say that there alot of natural high blood pressure stuff but if you already are taking prescription meds, what do you do, quit taking the real stuff and try the natural. It could be dangerious if you did that and you can't take the two together, anyway you shouldn't. So how do you learn what works and what you can and can not do together

On Fri Aug 11 10:54:04 2006 A word of caution about St. John's Wort () said:
Another major concern is possible interactions between St John's wort and other drugs. In February of this year, the FDA warned physicians that St. John's wort dangerously interferes with a long list of prescription drugs, including the AIDS drug Crixivan (indinavir) and the immunosuppressive drug Neoral or Sandimmune (cyclosporine), which is used by patients who have received transplants. In May, leading makers of St. John's wort adopted a voluntary labeling program urging all users of the dietary supplement to seek the advice of their "health professional" prior to using it. Still, some experts wonder if more regulation is needed.

On Fri Aug 11 10:14:48 2006 () said:
I know this is going to sound strange, but I tried St. John's Wort for depression. Another effect it had was to decrease my appetite a little bit, so I found it easy to lose a few pounds. Since my appetite is under control, my mood better, and I lost some weight, by sugars are better. I can't say this will work for everyone but it seems to help me.

Yes, it's the donut hole that awaits us all, if broke. When you reach that, you pay everything. Imagine the costs for people with more than a few diseases! And those tiers...every month I get a letter from my Ins. Co (Medica) that tells what prescriptions have gone up to tier 2 or even 3. A nightmare.

Yes!

On Tue Aug 8 16:48:22 2006 () said:
How about 5.15 an hour. How many in congress could live off that. With two people working a family can't make it. It's a tough world out there. Even people with insurance can't afford drugs, tests and surgery if needed. I know I have put off alot of stuff because insurance doesn't pay for it and I certainly can't. Diabetes is a very expensive diasease and only the rich can afford it. And you know what, they can have it, I'm tired of dealing with it.

The people working for the drug companies who wrote Medicare Part D, and the people in Congress who passed it, don't seem to care about seniors on fixed incomes. They can probably afford high-end health coverage for themselves.
I have a feeling if everyone in Congress were forced to use this plan for their healthcare, there wouldn't be a no-coverage donut-hole in it.

On Tue Aug 8 15:17:27 2006 Linda () said:
Ya, you are right! Medicare part "D" is the biggest joke on us, and wait til we fall into the pit that awaits. Then we have to pay for everything. It's depressing, but I can't afford anti-depressants, so I read a lot. Except when I have to go & get the mail. The paperwork is always waiting. More of it. confusing.

On Mon Aug 7 20:08:46 2006 () said:
Medicare part D is about the biggest joke I've ever seen. I signed up for what I thought was a good program. WRONG! It paid for 250 for no name drugs, then went to stage 2, stage 2 you pay copays, then in stage 3 you pay 100% of everything. If you are lucky enough to get through that stage it's Stage4. They pay for 95% of the drugs. I think I'll be stuck on stage 3 till I go broke. Can't anyone come up with something better?

On Mon Aug 7 16:37:56 2006 Linda () said:
With Medicare part "D", our WONDERFUL new drug program, the cost of anti-depressants is determined by the drug companies. And they are not cheap! I can't afford mine. I believe diabetes sometimes causes depression. At least for me. That and all the constant paperwork. Sometimes I can't stand it.

The thing is, I don't want to get yet one more drug. My insurance pays less and less over the years and antidepressants aren't something you can take for 2 weeks and be cured. So I try absolutely everything else I know. The most recent thing is fish oil. I do think it's helping, but maybe some of it is a placebo effect. Who knows.

If I was hobbling with a broken leg, people would see it. They would get why some things are difficult for me. But depression is invisible. It frustrates me if I'm hobbling mentally and people say, in effect, "get a move on!"

I hate counting carbs and trying to figure that all out. Since I've been do the carbs I've put on weight and my BS runs high. Yesterday I went back to fat grams and calories and my BS was the best it's been in a long time. I'm going to try it for a week and see what happens. To me it's easier to do calories.
