At least you care about finding a happy medium. I think you're probably healthier for it. I know people who just take their meds and couldn't care what their sugar is.

My BS is high and low and nothing inbetween. How do I find that happy medium? or is there such a place with diabetes? When I think I might be running high, I'll check and I'm low. I hate all these ups and downs and it isn't helping the weight any

Is anyone here taking Symlin? My Doctor is prescribling it for me, and he said it was just like Byetta. Hope it works for me> Take care and watch those blood sugars.

I heard that Xenical is going to be available without a prescription. Does anyone know how much it will cost?

To answer the people about Byetta, yes i"m still taking it and although I have some nausea still and frequent heartburn I still count the positives as worth it. You see I am in a wheelchair and have alot of pain trying to exercise-- now I have lost more weight than ever, have lower blood sugars and my Blood pressure is under control, so any side effects are worth it. All must be taken under consideration as their are negatives but I STILL TAKE IT!!! Be sure your Doc says it's okay for you but ultimately I've learned that you must be responsible for your health.

I have been on byetta for a little over two months. The Doctor told me if I could just hang in there the sickness would go away in about 2 weeks. It was more like two months and I'm still on just the 5% dose. I lost a ton of weight yippee but now when I take the injection shortly after I just want to sleep and if I can't sleep I feel kiind of spaced out. I also have bouts of verdigo or so the doctor said and I'm on pills for that too. My question is has anyone else suffered the sickness that goes with this byetta. It sure does it's job but the side effects are wearing me out. Thanks for any replys Fran

Thanks for letting me know. I've been diabetic to long, and my husband has been having some signs and I guess I'm reading more into then what is there.

From MedLine: Diabetes is typically diagnosed when fasting blood glucose levels are 126 mg/dl or higher.
So, if your fasting BS is less than 126, you don't make the bar for diabetes.

What is a normal fasting BS for a non diabetic? I don't remember

I have been trying really hard (for me) for a year to loose the weight and it was definitely the BYETTA that did it. It fills you up on so little food and relly helped with my cravings for sweets that I am convinced it was indeed the Lizard Spit

On Sat Apr 1 15:34:44 2006 Julie () said:
Wow, you lost 15 pounds. Way to go. How did you do it? Or was it the Byetta?

On Sat Apr 1 15:29:26 2006 () said:
To answer the Byetta question--yes i've been on it for two months and love it. I have lost about 15 lbs but, my sugar is down from the mid 200'z to mid 100's, my BP is down and I'm feeling alot better. High sugars were hell on my friends and family as I was soooooo depressed and very moody and quick to anger. Have had the big D for 12 years and have really enjoyed byetta- IT'S GREAT IF COVERED BY INSURANCE OTHERWISE IT'S $200 A MONTH!!!!!

I have trouble with my BS at night. I'm type 1 and take some lantus at 7 at night and sometimes a few units of reg insulin before bed to try to keep them down. But when I wake up in the middle of the night, they are 250 to 340. Why would they go so high at night when I'm taking insulin?
