That's why I never put my e-mail
address down. I had a bad experience from doing that. A lot of on wanted e-mail
about every but diabetes. I don't understand why I can control things and then I
lose control and it seems like it never comes back again. It would be so nice to
live a normal live and not have to worry about things.

need. Third, they approved it but have no long term studies of just what happens
when you send insulin directly into your lungs. otherwise it sounds good

Type II
diabetes can be related to eating habits and other lifestyle issues. However, in
most cases Type II is inherited and there's not a thing you can do to avoid it,
only to control it. Type I is not inherited according to many doctors, it is not
caused by anything you did or didn't do - it is caused by some trauma to the
pancreas. Diabetes CANNOT BE CURED. So when you ask why are they still diabetic
you are completely off base. Diabetes can be controlled for most people, not
all. Actually diabetics can eat chocolate pie if they want to - it's about
counting carbs and there are NO BAD FOODS. Those on some types of insulin can
increase their units to compensate for chocolate pie. The fact you are selling
something really negates everything you say.

No one is forcing you to read
"chat" messages, so if you're looking for someone to blame for your frustration,
go look in the mirror. If the cure for Type 2 diabetes were as simple as knowing
what to eat, it could be wiped out almost overnight. The reality is what one
eats is only one part of the problem. And because every individual is different,
there is no one-size-fits-all solution. I have Type 2 diabetes and I have no
concerns about my quality of life. I have a great life, so there is nothing I
need to "get back." I don't dred holidays, vacations, birthdays -- I cherish and
revel in them. Bottom line, I won't be contacting you, as you come across as a
very self-righteous judgmental person -- not someone I would care to associate
with even in cyberspace.

It is very
frustrating to continue to read all the "chats" about people whom are suffering
from diabeties. This is the fastest growing health problem in America. Why do we
have so many diabetics that continue (regularly) to pay for medical
help/education/supplies, etc. and are still a diabetic? Did you know that you
literally "ate" yourself to Type II diabeties? Did you know that if you continue
to take the advise you are receiving for your diabeties that you will most likey
not get any better or possibly get worse? Why is it that so many people don't
question the fact that so much time and money is pumped into this so-called
disease and the number of cases are on the rise? As you can probably see, I am
VERY frustrated that there are so-o-o-o many people that are truly lost for
getting their life/health back to a high quality. It is truly not that difficult
if you know how to do it. Knowledge is freedom...knowledge is a great life. My
partner and I have helped thousands of people "get their life back" through
getting healthy. We teach people how to eat!!! As I am sitting here typing, I am
eating the most dilectable chocolate pie that is jam packed with high-quality
nutrition. I know how to keep my sugar levels under control without effort
because I have been taught. If you want to learn how to get your life back, and
not dred the times around holidays/birthdays, be able to have a fabulous time on
vacations and not worry about what is being served for dinner, I will teach you.
I do not charge any money to teach you this information that we should already
know anyway. Please do not contact me if you are not serious. I spend A LOT of
time doing FREE personal nutritional coaching and I am very passionate about
what I do. Let's make 2006 a turning point to getting your health back which
will automatically get your quality of life back!

I find sometimes that I can eat the
same things every day and one day my blood sugars are fine and the next day they
are high. When I excercise it seems to raise my blood sugar instead of lower it.
It does make you a wreak checking your blood all the time and it's high and you
can't figure out why. If you eat a candy bar you understand why it's high.
On Wed Jan 18 01:54:07 2006 Helen (if you quit your medicines ...) said:
...then you will have no control whatsoever of your diabetes. Any time your
blood sugar level is 180 or more you are experiencing cell death in your body
because the thickened sticky sugarladen blood [which takes nutrients and oxygen
to your entire body] cannot get thru the fine capillaries. The first to go are
the eyes and kidneys because they have a lot of capillary delivery. Your feet
are at extreme risk of infection you cannot control if your bloodsugar is high -
the blood won't be able to deliver the antibiotics to contain any infection.
That gives you a serious risk of amputation to save your life. You also risk
heart damage and strokes resulting in irreversible brain damage. Aside from that
if you go into a really elevated bloodsugar or an extreme low you could slip
into a coma and die very quickly. So of course you can stop treatment but you
WILL have neuropathy -when your nerves are damaged. Nerve damage does not heal,
itis not reversible. It is better to bother with the meds and try to stave off
going blind, going into kidney failure, heart attack, stroke, or having your
feet amputated all for the sake of convenience. This is a rough disease to deal
with, nobody should ever tell you it isn't. You need to talk to your doctor
about how to manage all the meds better and which meds might be more effective
for you. If you have a doctor you can't communicate with find another one. Even
with an HMO you can usually change physicians under some circumstances. In the
meantime there is a wealth of information on line about this disease - check out
any of the medical website or the one for Joslin diabetic center.
On Wed Jan 18 01:43:35 2006 Jeff (on shoes) said:
it is critical for a
diabetic to have shoes that are not causing sores on your feet of any sort -
blisters, corns etc. You are being fitted for a pair that will minimize this. It
is very important you keep your feet safe because with neuropathy as diabetes
advances, you may not even feel a blister until you have a raging infection and
diabetes disables the circulatory system's ability to deliver the medicine to
stop the infection. That is why many diabetics lose their feet. So this is very
serious. Before you have this shoe store fit your feet ASK QUESTIONS. If they
don't know anythimg aboit diabetes go somewhere else! Your doctor should be able
to tell you which stores in the area can do this properly for you. If not any
podiatrist in the area could. BE VERY CAREFUL TO GET THIS RIGHT!

You lose weight
when you expend more calories than you take in. You gain weight when you take in
more calories than you expend. So figure the calories of the carbs you are
ingesting and then figure out how much exercise and which kind to do to burn
more off than you ate. Then you will lose weight. There is such a thing as
hitting a plateau beyond which you just about can't lose weight. HOWEVER do NOT
go on a diet of any sort without consulting your doctor first!

My problem with lantus is that it works really well and then just quits and it's
out of controll for awhile, then I get back on track. Sometimes, it seems like
my sugars go down real slow and they just keep going down, then real slowly they
start to come up again, I have alot of problems with mine.

I generally agree with the

flour is a problem, both for weight and blood sugar. That's white OR wheat
flour. I try to stick to the grain ... brown rice, oats, barley. (I'm not saying
it's easy!)

There are two types of carbs:
simple and complex. Examples of simple carbs are foods high in sugar and fat
(cake, candy, soda, etc.). When looking at the Nutrition Facts on the label,
check the grams of carbs and compare it to the Sugars underneath. For example,
Coca-Cola has 27 carbs, but 27 grams of sugar, meaning all the soft drink's
carbs are sugar. Not a good choice. You should try to limit your intake of
simple sugars to 10% per day. This would amount to about 22 grams per day. On
the other hand, complex carbohydrates give your body energy, but also contain
vitamins, minerals and fiber. These include fruits, vegetables, whole grains
(oats, rye bread, bran cereal, brown rice) and also pasta. Add these to your
diet and try to fill up on the fruits and veggies especially. Stick with a whole
grain or multi-grain bread. Don't overload on the pasta.
